Re: Bill Moyers: Roundtable on Impeachment of Bush and Cheney
Some very good points in the discussion. However, since when is two people with the same view and a moderator a "round table discussion"?

Re: The Hardest Part of Bush's Job
As far as I can tell JT didn't use the phrase "stay the course," nor did I suggest there should be no political solution. I believe that without the troops there, there would be less hope of a political solution.
You seem to like to put words in other peoples mouths.
If you can fill me in how the Sunnis are "about to be shut out of the oil revenue" it would be much appreciated. Unless of course this is just a general statement without reference to a particular fact.
When the current Iraq gov't is removed, and the Shia set up a theocracy, then I say leave. But, while there is still hope for the current gov't I say stay.
I don't know how a can explain myself in more simple terms.

Re: The Hardest Part of Bush's Job
You are corrent - they are not diametrical in nature. There are two options, and I believe that leaving would be worse than staying for the people of Iraq.
I respect your opinion to the contrary, and wish you would respect mine without a personal attack. You have no idea where I get my information from, nor how informed I am. And I assure you, if I am wrong, it is not because my position is not well thought through.
And, my point, in case it was missed, was to explain the context of the clip. Again, whether you support Bush's stance, this quote is totally out of context; it implies he is still trying to connect Saddam to 911, when it is now known Saddam had no connection. Which, he is not doing.
Please suck my salty acorns.

Re: The Hardest Part of Bush's Job
I didn't say stay the course.
"Finish the job" means that regardless of one's feelings about how we got into this war, the US should stay until the current Iraq government is capable of sustaining itself.
Period.

Re: The Hardest Part of Bush's Job
Actually this is a recent quote reflecting his frustration with liberals wanting to leave the job unfinished, when Bin Laden (again recently) is on tape stating that defeat the US in Iraq would be a great victory for their cause.
It's called context people.

First off, the Daily Kos is anything but objective; it is one of the most unabashedly far left blog organizations on the net. AND being a collection of bloggers, what is presented here is simply a blog entry, with no oversight as to the content.
The article the Kos blogger references from The Guardian is over a year and a half old and firmly states that these funds are to run out July 2007, and therefore the Kos bloggers statement that Iraqis have been without these funds for a year and a half is and absolute falsehood. In addition, The Guardian Unlimited article speculates the funds are not being renewed because Bush is planning a withdrawal before the mid -term elections - which obviously did not happen.
SO my question is this, cannot the Daily Kos have referenced an article more recent than a year and a half to back up his claim? Because, if it were true, I’d be up in arms myself, as would many other people, including any news organization looking for it a giant news story. But, that the only place I’m seeing it is on a factually flawed post by one blogger on a far left sight and on milkandcookies.com, I have extreme doubts.
I welcome anyone with information to back up the allegation that, as of July 1, the United States at President Bush’s order has shut off funding to rebuild Iraq’s infrastructure add to this thread.
