Personally I think that's a bad idea, it's not safe.
Right now you open the door to get out of the car, you can look in the mirror before you get out.
Getting out of that wouldn't give you the safety of a mirror, by the time the door opens there's no way of telling what's changed.
What happens in an accident?
I don't think the door would just fall off to allow for an easy exit.
If you open a door now, you have some sort of space. I'd rather deal with accidentally hitting a bike rider, paying for their medical bills, or possibly loosing my door to oncoming traffic.
When your door swings open, it lets traffic know ... hey that dude is getting out of the car, and they can swerve, I'm not so sure this would allow for a sufficient warning.
