The Little Sure Shot of the Wild West
In 1894, Oakley and Butler performed in Edison's Kinetoscope film, The "Little Sure Shot" of the "Wild West," exhibition of rifle shooting at glass balls, etc.[23] Filmed November 1, 1894, in Edison's Black Maria studio by William Heise (0:21 at 30 fps; 39 ft.),[24] it was about the 11th film made after commercial showings began on April 14, 1894.[25]
Oakley's early movie star opportunity followed from Buffalo Bill and Thomas Edison's friendship, which developed after Edison personally built for the Wild West Show, what in the 1890s was the world's largest electrical power plant.[21] Buffalo Bill and fifteen of his show Indians appeared in two Kinetoscopes filmed September 24, 1894

Re: We've Been Having It!
Here here for your insight. Is this actually a troubling ad as you perceive it to be NEU NEU? I cannot speak on the sophistication or feelings of the South African audiences that this ad was intended for but people are so aware of sardonic humor in the media these days that I find it hard to believe that the ad wouldn't be well received. Look at it this way. Imagine if the junta leader was George Bush speaking to America. The fact that the leader is saying that all of his versions of the phone's features are good enough belies his authority. As in he is playing the role of a dictator, "[the people don't need this phone because we already have all these features]" I imagine that South African audiences are so used to this type of figure in real life that just the sight of him on a television ad might have some intrinsic humor. So yes, the advertisers are walking a thin line here but in the end I don't think it is as morose as you may have perceived. Evil governance is an aspect of Africa that Africans have had to and continue to deal with daily, but let it be of comfort that there is enough Africans united against poor leadership that advertisers are keen to playing to this fact so that they can all have a good laugh (and move some product). I have to say, thats a damn funny ad. Good comment NEU NEU - clearly got me thinking.

Re: Halo 3 Weapons Kid
I don't care what anybody says, that spoiled rich kid is sweet. And very talented! That video represents tons of hours of crafting. I almost find it hard to believe that he did this stuff himself. I mean, the mini gun is that detailed. Not to mention the fact that the kid has all the damn mannerisms of the game down!? I mean wtf!?!? Kid is a genius or he's got some fluffers.

Re: Audiosurf: Beethoven
I eagerly watched the whole thing and have to say that was just OK. I'm a big fan of classical music and audiosurf. The epic experience that happens when the two collide is other-worldly. I've gotten great results with Steve Reich. Another epic experience I had was with Godspeed you Black Emperor! albeit not classical but classically influenced nonetheless. Audiosurf is god.

Re: Pi - Hebrew Math
No its just called "Pi". By Darren Aronofsky. Most notably he also did "Requiem for a Dream" and "The Fountain" All beautiful films. Just watched latter the other night. Incidentally, this is TMI I know, but I had my house broken into last summer and instead of stealing my "Boyz in the Hood" DVD, they stole "Pi" and "Requiem for a Dream".

Paid liar
Good eyes, I don't think they were manipulating what he was saying so much as editing out some dead air and uh's. But then again, who knows. Clearly this guy is paid to lie. Even the fact that he wrote a book is part of his job disguised as a personal endeavor. Why are we so passive in America?

Re: Awareness Test
up until now and maybe this comment is included, but every response to this video so far has been clearly written by a retarded person. There is no other explanation.

chosen name?
What is the name that he calls out for the empress? I have seen this movie a million times and I have never understood that. Sounds like he says, "moon star *gags"

Re: Ella Fitzgerald : One note Samba/Scat
Why is this called a "one note" samba? There doesn't seem to be anything "one note" about it.

Re: Real-Time 3D TV System
I think this technology does not take into account the stationary life style of the modern day couch potato.
That being said—clearly—advertising is going to be this technologies big application. The viewer needs to be in motion for this technology to be effective.
Finally, where have we gotten in technological evolution when advertising gets cooler technology than home consumers demand.

maybe I am just jealous
I am not anti-semitic by any means. That being said, I don't appreciate any ethnicity promoting its own heritage disguised as comedy in public forums expecting mass audiences to enjoy it. I love most of Sarah Silverman's humor but I can't stand the constant barrage of Jew jokes. You're Jewish, we get it! who cares. I don't like Mel Brooks or Jerry Seinfeld but they are similarly guilty of this sort of shameless self-promotion. I don't watch TV anymore but I think there is something to be said for understanding how any one ethnicity comes into prominence in any entertainment arena. Maybe some genes just lend themselves better to certain forms of entertainment than others. Or maybe there is something more to it. I am just against any power monopolizing any service to all the people of the world.

Re: Final Countdown Cello and Orchestra
This is what happens when people don't understand irony and sarcasm. I bet someone told them, "dude how awesome would it be to play Final Countdown w/ classical instrumentation" They didn't get it. Sure it is slightly tongue and cheek but I think these guys really think what they are doing is awesome for all the wrong reasons. Yes, the wrong ones. :)
