Re: Should Women Be Punished for Having Abortions?
I agree with your statement that these people seem to see women as the victims of a society that pushes them to abortion. In fact, most if not all of the pro-lifers I've met seem to hold this view of women being victimized and not the victimizers rather than the view that women's reproductive options ought to be controlled, which much of the pro-choice crowd seems to believe.

However, this provokes no sympathy from me for these pro-life advocates. As a female, I am equally offended by the notion that I do not have the intellegence and/or agency to ever make a choice for myself alone as I am by the notion that my reproductive rights should be controlled. That's great if they don't believe in the government control of women's reproductive choices (which I think is the case for the most part), but their supposed empathy for the woman as the "victim" is equally misplaced.

Re: Pluto's Judgement Day
It's funny I watched this cartoon when I was a young kid and only now do I pick up on the racism in that one part. I guess maybe that says something redeeming about children, or that I was just unfamiliar with the old racist stereotypes of the 1930s (or whenever this was made) when I was that young.

Re: Religion Kills Free Speech
Christianity is the most overwhelmingly influecial relgion in the US and tends to influence US politics much moreso than others. So it makes sense that atheists (at least here) have less reason to fight against religious minorities like Muslims when they have substantially less effect on government policy.

Re: Pat Condell: Apologists for Evil
Yes the modern libertarian party, which is mostly comprised of right wing libertarians, is very similar to the republican party these days. If you read some of my earlier comments I say that up until the 70s libertarianism and anarchism were more closely related before the word "libertarian" came to mean something closer to "republican"

Re: Pat Condell: Apologists for Evil
I think we disagree a bit on semantics, especially regarding collectivism and individualism, but I agree with your statement that individualism and cooperation are not mutually esclusive. Your take on anarchism is pretty accurate, with the minor detail that anarchism is a so called lack of government, but you can also define a government to be an entire community's responsiblity for self government without proffessional politicians. But "government" in the colloquial meaning of the word does not necessarily describe this. Again, semantics. And yes, these communes would be writing their own rules for social conduct within the society, but if they are founded on anarchist or communist doctrines then these communes would still share many of the same standards.

Also, I will say that Anarchism as a radical movement tends to distance itself much more from the right than the left. However, political allies to radical movements such as anarchist ones are overwhelmingly in the progressive left. And there are only a handful of conservative or right wing libertarian converts and anarchism is much more related to socialism/libertarian socialism, communism and other so called leftist ideologies
