Re: George W. Bush Blames Torture Policy on U.S. Troops
I wonder how Bush sleeps at night. Being that evasive to a simple question speaks wonders for his character. Granted he really didn't "blame" troops for Abu Ghraib, he blamed their abuse and subsequent media focus on them. The real blame lies on this administration and their continuing disgraceful actions toward our nation.

From a British dictionary of slang:

2. Rubbish, nonsense, drivel. E.g."That film was bollocks."
Exclam. An expression of anger, frustration, or defiance.
* Also written as bollox or bollix.

Re: George Takei's Message to Tim Hardaway
I think you may be a bit off with the comments about the gay stereotypes concerning uncontrollable libidos and pedophilia. Frankly I would suggest there is more chance of the creepy loner guy of touching children than a confident, successful gay man.
True this kind of humor can often be used too quickly by the small minded among us. But those with little real ammunition will often hurl whatever they can find in place of anything substantially factual.

Re: Why Do People Laugh at Creationists? (Part 24)
Voodoo economics?
I once thought Ben Stein used his head for more than keeping his glasses at eye level. Now I am not so sure.
Funny how economics and law degrees make you more than adequately able to speak as an "expert" on not only scientific truths but those of the spiritual world. Guess I need to read the fine print on my diplomas...

Re: Teacher Fired over Intelligent Design
Unfortunately their knuckles often have special rings that allow them to have influence. Kinda like Captain Planet, except without the environmentally friendly political agenda.

Re: The Argument from Oranges
So if I use reverse reasoning, didn't God create all things from his own hands? So that everything is in fact related to God and therefore all of the same substance. Yeah yeah we supposedly have a soul from God, but those oranges were made of the same magic God dust.
When will the religious understand that religion should be taught by your family and religious leaders. The schools have no business teaching religion anymore than I would want that wonderful storyteller teaching bioengineering. Frankly, I think exposing children to the hardcore tenets of most religions at a young age, does more harm than good.
If you truly believe in the one true word of God, let the children be exposed to many types of religion and by faith they will find the truth and be one of the flock. If not, maybe you need to re-read that lengthy tome.
Evolution is a scientific theory based on scholarly observation, peer review, and physical evidence. Intelligent design is a weak connection between pseudo-scientific facts crafted to fit the needs of the religious stories in the Bible. And religion is a set of morals and fables meant to help early man deal with the frightening realization of the world and to find comfort in pretending to know what it all means.

Re: Sarah Silverman: I'm fucking Matt Damon
Sarah is funny, sexy, and downright rude. The bit was decent, but isn't one of her top pieces. Please let the writers get things going again in this comedy desert.

Re: Simpsons: Sadgasm, Homer Grunge
I must agree with that. They are really stretching to find something new to bring to their characters. Frankly I feel the same about Family Guy at the moment. The only truly funny show, that doesn't directly rely on cheap one hit gags, is American Dad.

Re: Dane Cook: Snake Dreams
I looked for the funny but came up empty. At one point I rubbed my eyes to make sure this wasn't MadTV making fun of him, then I realized it was the real thing.
The Alien bit didn't even have a joke. They were laughing at how idiotic he was. Sad that this is what America calls comedy now.
We need some more quality comedians to take us back to the days of Pryor, Rickles, Carlin, or Newhart.

Re: Edward Current: People are not Animals and Evolution Never Happened
Ok, that made my head hurt. I have never seen the reason one should listen to a logical argument, in which the evidence is based on archaic poorly translated oral traditions. Or that the counterarguments are based on supposition and little or no academic research.
I always find it funny that the supposed "faithful" are the ones most full of ill-gotten pride. Something they must have spiritually evolved, as that isn't something God kept as a high value. :)

Re: Why Do People Laugh at Creationists? Ep.11
I find these quite entertaining as well but the point is often missed by the audience and sometimes the creators. Whether you want to believe in a God of any type is your decision, and I personally think it should be a very intimate personal exploration. Unfortunately, modern Creationists and the like are trying to undermine science and prove their own view of God so as to influence others to join in their cause.
To me this isn't about spirituality but control. The stories in the Bible should not be taken literally as they were taken from oral histories and modified through many variations. Even the moral lessons, which exist on a higher abstract level of conception, are sometimes in need of modern rejuvenation. Evolution isn't evil, ignorance is.

Re: W.C. Fields: The Great McGonigle Act
Simply amazing. That's when entertainers were skilled in real entertainment. Now the majority just need to know how to pout at the right time and order a new Lexus.
Let's see George Clooney do that box trick. Heh.

Re: George Carlin: Baseball and Football
I wonder where the call "Giving him the business" would fit in to Carlin's rants?
Not to mention when in baseball you touch someone to get them out, you call it tagging. Whereas in football it is a hit.
Gotta love Carlin.
