Re: Through The Wormhole: Is The Universe Alive?
And to that I still say no. So does Neil deGrasse Tyson. Here, I'll let him explain it a little better: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mij4DYYnkF8
The universe is not "fined tuned" to support life, and the idea that it is, is rather stupid.

Re: Through The Wormhole: Is The Universe Alive?
Oof. I just got to the part about a "fine tuned universe" where Lee what's-his-name is trying to argue the universe is fined tuned specifically to be hospitable to life. No no no no no. Life arose to suit the universe, not the other way around. Maybe it's just this episode, but this show is dumb as hell and loaded with bad science and shitty physics.

Re: Through The Wormhole: Is The Universe Alive?
Nope.
Most whales only live between 40 and 75 years, depending on the species. Some koi fish can live for 200 years.
Size of the animal has no correlation with its lifespan.

Re: Helical Model: Solar System is a Vortex
It's a pretty animation, but scientifically vapid.

Re: Joe Rogan: What is Reality?
Hahaa yeah... because Joe Rogan is an intellectual. Please. He is not and will never be a Bill Hicks.

Re: Mrs. Betty Bowers Explains Abortion
That has to be the mother of all false-equivalency arguments. I'd be impressed if it weren't one of the stupidest things I've ever read.

Re: Mrs. Betty Bowers Explains Abortion
Well, I guess we should all stop making satirical jabs at Christianity then, huh? Maybe treat it as sacred and punish any blasphemers.
Or maybe we should greet ridiculous ideas with the ridicule they deserve.

Re: Bill Hicks Rips Jay Leno
Usually a Bill Hicks clip is an automatic 4 stars, but this one gets a 5th for using clips from Urotsukidoji while Bill was referring to Satan.

Re: Bill Hicks Rips Jay Leno
Arrogant? That argument could be made, sure. But pretentious? No, Bill Hicks had no pretense whatsoever. If anything, he was the antithesis of pretentiousness because he didn't put on a false facade, didn't sugar-coat the things he said, didn't pander to people, refused to compromise his integrity and did all of this no matter what it cost him and no matter what anyone else thought of him. Hicks was a lot of things, not all of them good, but he was definitely not pretentious.

Re: World's Only Actual Turbine Powered Batmobile
Yeah, there wasn't much to this.
I have a feeling he didn't open it up because it would be uncontrollable, especially on a normal rural road. I'm guessing at higher speeds it has almsot no fine throttle control and woefully inadequate brakes.

I was thinking the same thing. Not bad at all, better than I had expected.

Re: Weird Al Yankovic: Another Tattoo
Had it been up to me, there would have been a strategic empty space at my elbow. Or, as my tattoo artist sarcastically calls it "the swell-bow"

Re: Dave Allen: Sperm
Great stuff, as most of Dave Allen's is. I really like that although he's talking about the dirtiest subject possible he never resorts to cursing or dirty words and manages to keep the whole thing really classy. That takes talent.
