Re: Why FOX News isn't News
The fact that ANYONE in this thread can think ANY news outlet is anything other than infotainment these days is amazing.

American News channels are all shit.

Go watch the mediaopoly video on youtube. Maybe you'll see how every channel is in the deep pockets of the government.

Re: Sen. Franken on Rape Govt Defense Contractor Bill
"I agree. Broader legislation would've been more appropriate."

This is the most terrifying thing any American could ever believe.

Keep the damn government OUT OF MY PERSONAL LIFE.

There are better solutions than government regulation.

Re: Don't Buy Any Food You've Seen Advertised
The recently deceased Norman Borlaug might take slight issue with your "genetic crop modification helps no one but the farmer" stance. His Nobel Peace Prize might also disagree. So might many hundreds of thousands of Asians and Africans.

Re: High Five New York City
And you think this closeting of yourself to human interaction is a positive thing? This is the reason I hate NYC inhabitants so much. The uncontrollable claustrophobic human interaction has numbed them to the idea of positive and friendly human interaction.

It isn't non-sequitur. It's supposed to be standard human interaction. I live in a small suburban town, and I greet everyone I pass on the street with a smile, and a hello, or at the least, the tip of my hat.

Re: Neil deGrasse Tyson: Science and Religion
"Conversations of this nature are tit for tat and end up being circular arguments."

No. Evolutionary theory can be tested, observed, the theory revised and repeat. Creation cannot. It's not technically a "theory" as we define it scientifically.

Galapagos island finches. Viral and bacterial mutations immune to antigens (see rhinopharyngitis). Evolution has been observed, and documented from the micro to the macro.

Show me a test for "creation science", and I will consider it in my science classroom.

Re: Countdown: NSA Whistleblower
With enough social engineering, I could have access to all your emails and calls.

This is sensational garbage. First of all, the US Gov doesn't have the storage capacity to hold cumulative data on every American for even ONE day.

Why do people think the US Gov is some independent entity? It's made up of law abiding US Citizen, just like you or me, and none of them would sit idly by while they watched their rights get trampled. As a Federal Employee with a clearance, I can say that with a high degree of confidence.

Re: John Cage: 4'33''
The laughter at the brow wipe ruined it all. People knew what to expect. And the commentators at the end seemed almost patronizing of the event. Either that or they were the self-fellating artsy types.

Re: John Cage: 4'33''
UGH! John Cage created this as a surprise to the audience. It was never meant to be duplicated, and in fact CAN'T be duplicated because the audience knows what's coming, thus ruining the entire experience.

Pointless.

/bitter art major.

Re: Mark Fiore: The Spies Who Love You
I should have known this would be full of bullsh*t when a talking cartoon bear started to present it.

Re: Three Torture Myths
"Interviews" like this really bother me. I know, at some point in the near future, I will have to debate someone who watched this, and they will spew back all those mindless talking points. This is nothing more than one man's opinion. His previous employment does not lend itself to increased credibility of said opinion.

You want a valuable interview, how about asking questions on how he feels we can repair the damage wrought by our interrogation methods? There's something worth talking about. Don't dwell in the past, look for solutions for the future.

Uh, so, two Canadian teams disappointed America? I hope by "America" you mean North America, as opposed to The United States of.

Re: The Story of Stuff
So grossly over-packed with misinformation I wanted to stab myself no less than five minutes in. Sustainable resources, cyclical product cycles, all good concepts, great concepts even. But to present such topics with gross overstatements and half-truths does a disservice to those who are uninformed, and slaps the face of those who actually care.

Re: Rock Band: ...And Rock Band for All
Perhaps you misinterpret the intentions of a video game. Do you play Counter Strike in the hopes of learning to kill people? TheSims in the hope of learning to live a productive life? No. I haven't played Rock Band, but I thoroughly enjoy Guitar Hero, Wii Tennis, etc. Not because I have any aspirations of learning to play a guitar, or tennis, but because I enjoy playing video games with my friends. No one picks up Guitar Hero and thinks "Sweet, I'm finally going to learn to play the guitar." The two events are completely and totally mutually exclusive. Although I have noticed actual guitar players have the finger dexterity to kick my ass in Guitar Hero.

Re: Brian Williams Corrects Uneducated Fox Viewer
FAIL!

Every major news outlet broadcasting in the USA today is owned by a larger corporation. NBC is owned by GE, a company with its own agenda and countless weapons contracts with the US.

SNL spoofed this a few years back:
