Re: Carl Sagan: 4th Dimension Explanation
I've been wondering if this could have anything to do with "dark mass", which consists of particles in this third dimension, that pop in and out of existence at apparent random. Any ideas?

Re: Richard Dawkins on The Colbert Report
Must we go through all that again?
Intelligent discussion is being ridiculed as much as its subjects, nowadays.

Re: Rocket Fuel Factory Explosion
It troubles me to see how heavily edited these reports are. I see clouds passing over a satellite image, sound edited so it would sync with the explosion (although the camera was standing miles away),...
Makes you wonder how much of the "facts" are actually true and how much has been boosted to increase the spectacle factor.

Re: Rocket Fuel Factory Explosion
Except it wasn't nuclear at all.
'Kiloton' stands for an equivalent in mass of exploding TNT and has, by definition, nothing to do with nukes.

Re: Kanye West vs Taylor Swift MTV VMA: Outburst Interrupt Crash Rant
I'm a roadie myself, and I regularly do music award shows of daughter companies of MTV.

Re: Ted Talks: Rebecca Saxe: How We Read Each other's Minds
"You hardly feel anything of it and the actual magnetic field that is used is many times less than they use in MRI machines, so it's not harmful."
Hardly a grounded reasoning, is it...?
LESS harmful, maybe, IF the harm is equivalent to the force of the field.

Re: Next World: Future Life on Earth
IMO, one of the lovely things about the future (as seen in the movie 'I, Robot') is the ability to mouth off to robots and computers, or better yet, to ignore them.
If a computer were to call after me, "Josh, remember to check back in 2 days," I for one certainly wouldn't go "Will do, thanks!"
I don't think I'm alone in this. No matter how advanced these projections might be, I would still be acutely aware of their artificial nature, and miss human contact from the first day.
On the same note:
Ever been to Norway over the internet? It's... interesting, at best.

Re: Protesters Back In The Streets In Iran!
Accidentally touched the tab key.
I fail to see your point, though the racist jokes were vaguely amusing, up to the second one.
With the press kept away, it is up to the people to report to the world, which is the base principle of reporting to begin with. Unless they want the story of their fight smothered in the source (the sad case with historical events varying from political imprisonment to cases of country-wide genocide), consistent, immediate reports are necessary. They risk their lives all over by doing so and I can't help but respect that deeply.
