Re: Male Restroom Etiquette
LOL Utter comedy! I don't even have to wind you up - you spaz out all by yourself.

Let me explain how funny you are. Try to follow, so you can laugh, too!

You:

- Still can't tell ad hominem from a deserved insult. (For the last time: it's only ad hominem if it's irrelevant - "Voidwar" + bathroom etiquette = relevant.)

- Believe people who don't like your winning personality is groupthink - which you apparently don't understand, either.

- Miss the point of the video, but think your comments are somehow incisive.

- Bring politics in when it has nothing to do with anything.

- Can't spell "sighting."

- Think people are afraid of you. (That's probably my favorite.)

- Love the idea of getting attention from four dicks.

You don't know how perfect you are, Void. Too dumb to change, too arrogant to know he's unwelcome, and too ignorant to understand he's lost.

Just like a Republican!

Re: Male Restroom Etiquette
Good catch, Void.

You know, it's almost perfect Zen that a guy with the name of Voidwar has to comment on Male Restroom Etiquette.

Thanks for that, V. Don't ever change, you.

Re: Jerrod Carmichael: Chik-fil-A War
Not too long ago, the restaurant in question was Denny's. Congratulations, Jerrod - I guess you were "born" to nail ignorance and indifference, all while summing up America's "shut up and buy" attitude.

This guy says "chill the f* out." No problem. I'm chill as a mountain stream. Not supporting something that offends me is a breeze. Just like pointing out a pile of crap that people should avoid stepping in doesn't get me agitated, steering around people with a dumbed-down conscience doesn't wreck my day, either.

I was "born" to enjoy a lot of things, including a sense of justice.

If there's a "side" to take, it's not about supporting/not supporting gays, or even supporting/not supporting fairness. The choice of sides is over whether or not you can be bought.

Enjoy your sandwich.

Re: The Erosion of Progress by Religions
The point deGrasse was making was why religion is given the authority to make a culture pro- or anti-science in the first place.

I agree that Islam wasn't originally anti-science, but eventually shifted that way. But you seem to be saying that religion and science are compatible, and it's only when religion disagrees with it that problems arise. Why should religion have ANY say in the matter?

Despite the gains achieved in Europe during the Renaissance, Galileo's observations regarding a heliocentric solar system resulted in a clampdown on the facts. What place does religion have in deciding this? How does it deserve any legitimate space in scientific texts for the origins of the universe, or creationism, or how long humans have existed, or whether or not there's a physical Heaven or Hell?

How is the example of Jew-Muslim Nobel laureates a non-sequitor? It illustrates the results of communities that put science and reason first, superstition and dogma second. Seems to follow to me.

You seem to think that religious culture can be somehow enlightened. It can't. The fact that Creationism and similar bilge are having a real effect on education today only proves the point. You want to give God a place in your private life, that's just super. But as long as faith is making policy, it's a ticking time-bomb of regression.

You're going to tell me that science and religion are working together for the betterment of mankind in Iran? In North Korea? If either of these countries do something horrible, which will held responsible: science or religion?

The only questions we should be asking are"Why are we giving this nonsense a seat at the grown-ups' table?" and "How fast can we pull the fangs on this ignorance?"

chronomitch is surprised; I'm downright floored. Go, Void! Abrogate your reputation! Abrogate like the wind!

No, really. I'm impressed. Nicely done.

Re: Ayn Rand's Message to the GOP Candidates
Rand's logic, at least on this point, is sound. If anyone's locked in a dialectic, I'm afraid that's you.

She never said it's wrong to accept tradition because it's old. She said it's wrong to accept tradition ONLY because it's old. This is an informal fallacy called - appropriately - Appeal to Tradition.

"Capitalism has been around for a long time. Therefore, it's correct." Take out the word "capitalism," insert the word "slavery" - there you have it.

Rand at one point in the video did say it was just as wrong-headed to embrace the new simply for being new. Same principle of logic.

To your other point: she's not claiming faith is irrelevant. She said "TO REST ONE'S CASE on faith." To say something's true ONLY because God says so is not rational. I don't know how to state that any plainer.

You asked "if you embrace faith, then you have automatically endowed your enemies with reason?" I hate to break it to you, but yeah, it does. If you want to cross the invisible bridge over the valley, be my guest, but you're not going to convince me without rational evidence.

This isn't "Team Jesus" vs. "Team Darwin." It's actually, "you can't use faith as your sole argument" - and she's right.

Knock, knock. Who is it? LOGIC!

You seem to think Ms. Rand should be more wishy-washy in stating her "opinion." Yet I hear no such concern in your own claims: "Ironically, her arguments for rationalism are irrational. Her logic is flawed. Her conclusions have been determined before her inquiry has been conducted."

Sorry to say, spirot, but at this point: man up and be incorrect...

Re: Joe Rogan: What is Reality?
Who needs vocabulary when you've got space music and After Effects?

Give it enough eye candy, and you can back it with "it just so CRAY-zee!" and think you just got some profound message. You listening, Herman Cain?
