Re: Hitler's Private World
Fascinating. I wasn't aware of his (supposed) parkinsons disease. It's funny how such mundane footage can tell you so much.

Re: SNL: Amy Poehler on Britney Spears Flashing
This wasn't funny. I liked Amy much better on Upright Citizen's Brigade.

I know what you mean about first exposures (was that an intentional pun?) and I see it all the time. However, SNL really is crap right now. Nader or no Nader.

Re: Survey says: YES!
Also, I have no idea what you mean by Condoleeza being an alien. Are you saying she looks one?

Re: Survey says: YES!
Well, again, I think there are PLENTY of reasons Bush should not be speaking for us. Of course, the most entertaining are the speech-problems. And I have no problem hearing arguments of the form: "I believe a president should act both as ambassador to its people and to other nations. If he has problems articulating, then he's effectively lost this important quality. I question his ability to lead."
However, this is not how it's presented here. Instead, there's a tantalizing caption: "Is Bush an Idiot?"; then clips of simple slip-ups that everyone makes. This is dishonest and sensational journalism that does nothing but ridicule.
I'm dismayed that these trivial visuals are what sway the public opinion. I hate to use the cliche, but imagine the upset if Bush received a blowjob from an intern. Now imagine the upset from years of trampling our rights, defending the unethical practices of his administration, torture, imprisonment, etc. It's a shame. Really.

Re: Is Bush an Idiot?
I can't tell if there's been a misunderstanding or not. Let me rephrase:
I'm rabidly anti-Bush. It's just that the jokes of the form "Oh look at his stupid face" or "Listen to him screw up his speech" aren't funny to me anymore.
And more seriously, I object to the fact that the News would focus on meaningless clips of Bush's mistakes, rather than really go for the jugular and criticize his policy decisions.
Disregard all of the above clarification if by "discussion" you meant we both hold hands and mutually sing our dissatisfaction with the President.

Re: Is Bush an Idiot?
As soon as I see the classic Bush "monkey-face" picture, I immediately lose interest in whatever the content is. Not because I don't think he's an idiot, but because I've seen this kind of thing way too many times. Bush slipping on his speech is just not surprising or funny any more. It's both tired, and angering.
What I'd really like to see is the news actually ridiculing his destructive policies rather than his goofiness.

Kubrick directed both: not too strange a comparison.

Re: Coulter Vs. Colmes
Plus, who doesn't love to watch people yell at each other on TV?

Re: Coulter Vs. Colmes
Personally, I'm not a fan of Hannity, Colmes, Coulter, Limbaugh, Franken, or any of the AM Radio/CNN programming political entertainers. And I *certainly* would not call them good buddies. However, I can at least respect a couple of the above entertainers' opinions. Coulter, however, is nothing more than a saleswoman, constantly pitching her books through absurd sensationalism. This is why when she squirms under the heat, I feel obligated to spread the love.
