yeah you're right it's not true 3D, but since there's no panel behind it it gives the effect of an object looking true 3d (w/o the use of viewing glasses) from a distance. The benign particle don't do anything to the air, the light reflects off of the particles. Not much more is known about it since it's really proprietary. Just google the heliodisplay and check out the articles...

it's not a fog screen -- shoots "benign" particles -- not water vapor. Images (not like the map in this video) also appear 3d. It's the quintessential R2D2 projection device. From ohgizmo.com: "# Although the HelioDisplay uses lasers, the images are not holographic

Most importantly it may convince my wife to finally allow the purchase of the Brooke Burke Swimsuit calendar for testing purposes! I have to say the complete lack of respect around here's a shame.
First. I swore when I posted it last night it simply opened in real player when I clicked the link. I guess I was wrong. I apologize.
Secondly, I took the time to seek this out -- it's not so easy to find -- I thought it was a cool vid and wanted to share (I know it's old).
Thirdly, who cares if I have a thing for fake-anime-hair on girls. I dig it!
I implore you to guys to be a bit nicer. I don't really care that you guys don't like the video or whatever, but this kind of thing just ruins the whole M&C experience for me.
