Re: Cathy O Brien: The Most Dangerous Game
Similar situation to the 'Conspiracy Of Silence' documentary which dealt with the Franklin child abuse allegations but was never aired. Even the Wikipidia page has been removed. It's been a big hit on the internet though.

Also people who find this tough to deal with should do more research before they dismiss it. There's at least two talks from Cathy O'Brien lurking around online and an interview with Cathy and Mark Philips on the CMN website.

Re: Finally Someone Says This (Al Gore)
It's all about fear and this phony left/right battle. Gore's spent much of recent history promoting fear for his own political and financial agenda. The Bush regime have promoted fear for their political and financial agenda. They win - we lose. Surreal to see Gore chatising others for what he's been doing himself but there you go. If you lean to the 'left' you believe in cataclismic global warming and you support his agenda. If you lean to the 'right' you buy into the war on terror and support that agenda. As long as we're afraid and we give our power away, that's the important thing, eh.

Re: Senate Votes to Abolish 4th Amendment
I'm not American. I'm English. Our country seems to be speeding towards a totalitarian society much like the US. We have the added joy of the comepletely undemocratic EU (making about 80% of laws now) and no one remotely like Ron Paul or Dennis Kucinich. No yet anyway. It's sad that with two great choices and a country hungry for change people went for Obama and McCain. It's Kerry vs Bush all over again.

I have a tough time working out the appeal of Obama. Certainly it's great to see so many Americans willing to support a non white candidate. And as you say he's smart, charismatic and great public speaker. And he voted against the invasion and occupation of Iraq too. But he's continually voted to keep that war funded. He voted to make Condaleeza Rice (she who helped sell that war) Secretary of State. He's advocated bombing Iran (as far back as 2004 and very recently at the AIPAC conference he made it clear that military action was on the table). He's advocated bombing Al Qaeda in Pakistan. He wants to increase the number of troops in Afghanistan. He wants to increase the US miltary by 100,000. He's publicly praised George HW Bush for the first Gulf War I (another war launched on a pack of lies).

One of his main advisors is Zbigniew Brzezinski who was the architect of the Russian/Afghan war and the creator the the Mujahideen (which became the Taliban and Al Qaeda). Not a guy I'd be asking advise from.

He has all sorts of other unpleasant advisors too and is funded by all the big corporations. What change is he going to bring?

Re: The Lieberman Fist Jab
Surely by 'doing something' we should be ignoring this nonesense and focussing on real issues?

Re: Lieberman Must Go!
Obama's advocated military action against Iran. He's advocated bombing Al Qaeda in Pakistan. He's voted to keep the Iraq war funded. He wants to increase the number of troops in Afghanistan. He wants to increase to the size of the military by 100,00. His foreign policy advisor is Zbigniew Brzezinski (architect of the Russian / Afghan war). Both sides are so close it's no wonder people like Lieberman and McCain can switch so easily.

Re: FOX News: Al Gore Sued for Fraud
Ice is actually increasing in the Antarctic according to many reports I've seen. As for the Arctic, there was an unsually heavy melt in the Summer of 2007 which was widely reported. What wasn't so widely reported was that this past winter the Arctic ice returned in larger amounts than usual. Apparently there's a heavy melt again this Summer which according to an article I was reading on the BBC's website is the 'heaviest melt since records began'. What the BBC didn't mention was that records only began thirty years ago. And that global temperatures fell from 1940-1975 (even though CO2 was steadily rising). And then from 1976 to 1998 teperatures rose. For the last ten years global temperatures have 'plateaued'. So if you take the last thirty years you're bound to find the heaviest melt in the last ten years as it represents a peak.

John Coleman has a lot more to say than you claim. You have to wonder why Al Gore won't debate. He's happy to take $100,000 to $200,000 to lecture on global warming but won't take the opportunity blow these global warming skeptics out of the water with his science. Why is that? If he's so committed to the cause you'd think he's relish the opportunity to embarass these people into silence.

I'm all for taking care of this planet. It's a beautiful place. But this state of perpetual fear we're kept in (global warming, terrorism, Iran nukes, peak oil, bird flu, crime, etc) is not healthy and only seems to empower those who have too much money and too much power already. We should be taking power back not giving it away. And we hould be taking wealth back too and sharing it with those who really need it. But so much of the 'solution' to global warming seems to be more taxation, less freedom, more surveillance and more power in the hands of fewer people. And maybe that's the point?
