Unmoderated Tag: The Matrix Rating: No Votes Hits: 339 Comments: 0 9/11 Matrix Passport 9/11 Matrix Passport * TYPO on last frame - Should read 11 Sep 01 not 01 Sep 01 * (but you'll realise this if you've watched it all) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A lot of people are using the most perverse logic to try to debunk the fact that at around 17 minutes into the film, "The Matrix" (1999) at least one of the dates appearing on Neo's passport is 11th September 2001 (or 11/Sep/01 to be more accurate). The logic goes like this. Because someone may have used photoshop to fake such evidence in absence of a screendump that is proof-positive that the date does NOT appear in the film. I'm initimately familiar with a concept called "the asymmetry of the lie". That is a lie is easy to make up but takes significant effort and checking to cancel-out. In the face of lies being spread by disinformationists I had no choice but to spend time finding the location, making a screendump and creating this video If you don't "believe" and WON'T check the actual video then there's really no hope for you. You're either a cretin or a willing disinformationist. I'd ask that you not take this video as "proof positive" though and cross-check it by freeze-framing your own video. Pleae note that JPEG artifacting around letters is quite normal and bear in mind the original DVD video format is compressed not raw. If you find a copy of the film where this information is not present then that will be even more interesting as this will mean that there are "modified" copies out there! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compression_artifact Here's my info for those who want to replicate this: Software used: Cyberlink Power DVD (bundled version) Paint Shop Pro 5.0 Microsoft PhotoStory 3.0 Frame Timing: 17m33s (may be dependent on software as VLC gives a different time) Format: UK region standard DVD (PAL format - Phase Alternated Line, not NTSC) Post processing: None other than rotate 180 deg and zoom in video --- Jan 22, 2012 3:49 PM

Headline Tag: Humor Rating: Good Hits: 3425 Comments: 2 Reel Wisdom: Lessons from 40 Films Reel Wisdom: Lessons from 40 Films I made this video because I love films and I think there is great wisdom inherent in the film medium. This video represents some of the best film wisdom I could find, edited together as a single, coherent piece of advice. In creating this video, I wanted to focus on a few key themes, while featuring as many films as I could. As a result, Reel Wisdom features a broad array of films, from action/adventure and sci-fi films, to dramas and traditional/CG animated films in order to show how all genres of film have something important to say. There are a lot of Star Wars lines, I know. I included those mainly because I grew up watching Star Wars, and I love all the great lessons found in the films. And obviously, I couldn't make a video with all the wisdom from films, because it would be really long and rather incoherent. This video contains wisdom from only 40 films in a world where hundreds of films are made every year. Sorry if your favorites didn't make it. But send me a message and maybe I'll include them in Reel Wisdom: Part 2... The films used, in order of appearance: Pirates of Silicon Valley Swimming with Sharks The Matrix Star Trek (2009) Ghost Rider Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets The Iron Giant Lions for Lambs The Shawshank Redemption The Matrix Revolutions Dead Poet's Society Gladiator Troy The Matrix Reloaded Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008) The Bucket List The Lion King Forrest Gump Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi Ferris Beuler's Day Off The Curious Case of Benjamin Button Ratatouille Terminator 2: Judgment Day Catch Me If You Can Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope Batman Begins Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace Hitch Phenomenon The Pursuit of Happyness The Men Who Stare at Goats Bicentennial Man The Incredibles Under the Tuscan Sun Kung Fu Panda K-Pax Quantum of Solace Copyright Disclaimer: Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research.
