Merrie Melodies: My Favorite Duck

Merrie Melodies: My Favorite Duck 1942 color Looney Tunes cartoon featuring Porky Pig and Daffy Duck (both voiced by Mel Blanc). It was the second color entry in the Looney Tunes series, and the first pairing of Porky and Daffy produced in Technicolor. The title was presumably inspired by a film of that era, either My Favorite Wife or My Favorite Blonde. In this case the title is used ironically. This is one of several entries in a series where Daffy (during his "screwball" period) torments Porky in a variety of ways. In this episode, Porky is on a camping vacation beside a lake where Daffy happens to live. The duck quickly insinuates himself into Porky's attempts at relaxation, and every time the duck gets Porky riled enough to threaten violence, Daffy shows him a sign that says it is not duck hunting season, and that there is a hefty fine for even "molesting" (i.e. "bothering") a duck. It features Daffy Duck and Porky Pig in a forerunner of the Rocky and Mugsy cartoons, with Rocky already in his present-day form. When Daffy takes credit for the golden egg Porky finds in his henhouse, Rocky and his gang hustle him back to their den and demand more output. Daffy tries to stall for time, at one point asking for surroundings that would make him more comfortable. Rocky and his henchmen oblige, but then demand the egg. Merrie Melodies: Russian Rhapsody

Merrie Melodies: Russian Rhapsody a 1944 United States animated cartoon. Made during World War II, it mocks Adolf Hitler, the leader of enemy Nazi Germany, showing him defeated by "Gremlins from the Kremlin" symbolizing the Soviet Union, at the time America's vital ally in the war. After Falling Hare turned into a big hit in 1943, cartoon writer and director Bob Clampett made another Wartime cartoon involving gremlins. This Merrie Melodie was released to theaters on May 20, 1944. The original title of this cartoon was Gremlins from the Kremlin, but producer Leon Schlesinger changed the title to "Russian Rhapsody" when Disney began making its own wartime short about Gremlins, and asked other studios to not produce films about them. The cartoon, directed by Robert McKimson, stars Henery Hawk, Sylvester, and Foghorn Leghorn and The Barnyard Dawg. Foghorn convinces Henery that Sylvester is a chicken. Foghorn sticks Henery in an egg and places it under Sylvester. This cartoon entered the public domain (the latest-released WB cartoon to do so), as United Artists (successor-in-interest to Associated Artists Productions) failed to renew the copyright in time.
