Why "oddly enough?" People want to be free, especially when we know that we have no control over our love and who we love.

Oddly enough, meaning that it's peculiar and one of the last things you would expect in a strict fundamentalist theocracy.
I did not mention that I was unhappy about a gay rights movement. If anything, I applaud them. Perhaps I didn't make myself clear in my description.
