2d was easy, 3d is obvious (since its natural to us), but 4d blew my mind. Still can't wrap my mind around it.

I guess it's dimensional evolution, we mentally adapt to nothing more than what is required to survive the environment.

That's a dupe. A great dupe, but a dupe nonetheless.

Re: Carl Sagan: 4th Dimension Explanation
When he was talking about the "Flatlanders" and the little squares contact with the three dimensional apple...to me, it sounded a lot like someone in our third dimension discussing contact with a God. The person in the third dimension has no idea how to explain how they were contacted by the fourth dimension creature or how to get back into the fourth dimension, but they know it's there. They felt it "coming from within them".
This is really the only time I feel like there could actually be a "God-like" being out there in a fourth dimension watching us in our third dimension and connecting/communicating with some of us (or all of us).
What it looks like, or what it's intentions are, or how to talk to it might be a mystery...but what's to say it's not there -- if anything, we can only ever see a three dimensional cross-section of it.
To quote Neo from the Matrix, "Whoa.."

Re: Carl Sagan: 4th Dimension Explanation
Then the fifth-dimensional beings could look down upon their fourth-dimension creation-creator.
One of them wonders, "Why does he toy with his three-dimensional creations like that? It took him seven bloody days to build that mess, and ever since all he does is sit around and watch the poor little guys self-destruct arguing over where they came from!"
"Yes," says the other, "he is sadistic as hell, but you have to admit that we've drawn a good little fourth-dimensional carpenter."
"Indeed," says the first, "and now I hardly have the heart to tell him that he was sent to die on the hypercube."

Re: Carl Sagan: 4th Dimension Explanation
i like the infinite dimensions being created in infinitely small increments of time, creating ripples that also spin of their own infinite dimensions and so on and so forth.

Re: Carl Sagan: 4th Dimension Explanation
I've been wondering if this could have anything to do with "dark mass", which consists of particles in this third dimension, that pop in and out of existence at apparent random. Any ideas?
