Tale of Tales
Yuri Norstein's Tale of Tales was voted the Best Animated Film of All Time back in 1984. Soviet censors were baffled by its content, and assumed the film to be subversive. Therefore, they wanted to suppress it. Norstein, who had just been awarded a State honor (which afforded him enough protection), refused. Here it is, Tale of Tales, unscathed.
