Oh, it figures this one of the trio gets the most hits. I bet half the clickers had thought that it read "Dutch Dykes". Heh.
Seriously, I've never been in battle but I have to say that these are probably as close as one can come to portraying the sheer horror, dedication to honor and duty and essential realism.

Dykes is actually a legitimate alternate spelling for dikes, but I didn't feel like making fun of WW II. I wonder what the amount of hits would be, though, if I had chosen dykes over dikes and tagged this link Risque ... Sort of a rude awakening for some viewers, getting sprayed with machine-gun fire instead of whatever they had in mind.

This is an incredible series and book. I highly recommend both. Even if you've seen the series you get a lot more out of the book.
