Oooooo... Burned. That was a dirty trick, and I actually think McCain handled it fairly well, but I still can't stand the guy.

Re: John McCain Gets Owned on Meet the Press
He wasn't ambushed or tricked. If you watch closely, Tim Russert was going to point out that they were indeed McCain's words straight after he reads them out (he even motions to "point" it out), but in politician style, McCain interrupts with his own point.

John does have a valid point that the two conflicts have VERY little in common (he even shows retained knowledge, rare to see from any candidate) but it sure makes for an entertaining moment.

Come on now, owned?! 1993 Somalia is not 2008 Iraq. That is not even a close comparison. You guys are really stretching on this one. There is quite a bit more at stake with Iraq than Somalia.

By our own doing. You had neglected to bring this to light.

This was a war of choice, not necessity. It was bungled from the very beginning.

Do you not agree that there ought to be accountability and people held responsible for over $1 trillion and hundreds of thousands of lives ended?

Re: John McCain Gets Owned on Meet the Press
Oh I agree that we went there under false or misguided pretenses, but with the information given at the time of decision it was the right choice. The problem is that it was all wrong. Dont forget that the republicans AND the democrats decided to go into this at the time. But we digress. Somalia is not Iraq, and McCain is not Bush. Hell, Iraq 2001 is not Iraq 2008. Things change and decisions based on new information have to change too. Maybe we should not have been there to begin with, but if we leave now without securing the country it will become a haven for Radical muslims and terrorism, and the country will burst out into civil war. I don't think that we should pull out yet, and that is coming from a soldier. John McCain understands that, and he was a soldier. Besides, McCain is about the most liberal Republican you will ever find. He is not a partisan republican which is about all you can ask for. He may seem pretty right wing this past year or so, but he had to play the game. If you don't get the nod from your party, then you can't even go to the big show, so he had to pander to the republican base just to get here. Kind of a messed up election system. Anyway, if you look at his record, he is about as moderate as you can get and still be a republican. I think any of the last 3 candidates for President could be good Presidents. I feel a hundred times better about this election than the last one. I didn't want to vote for Bush, but Kerry?! Are you F-ing serious?! The Democrats forced me to vote Bush.

Re: John McCain Gets Owned on Meet the Press
Given the information that was available to those in charge, invading Iraq was not the right decision. The information was not correct, and they were aware of it.

Arguing that leaving Iraq will allow terrorists to have a base of operations from which they can attack American interests resonates with the original justification to invade Iraq; "Al Qaeda is in Iraq, and we need to go there and stop them." While it may be true that leaving Iraq will empower the terrorists, I learned my lesson from last time.

Nobody forced you to vote for anybody. I don't vote unless there is a candidate that represents my views. To vote for a candidate that does not represent your views is irresponsible.

Re: John McCain Gets Owned on Meet the Press
There should be a "none of the above" option.

This way if the majority of people choose this, the parties will be forced to go back and get new and better cannidates.
