Potassium Chlorate and Gummy Bear
Molten potassium chlorate is a strong oxidizing agent that reacts violently with sugar. Gummy bears have lots of sucrose in them. This is what happens when the chemical bond in sugars is broken down. It results in a release of energy, H2O and CO2. Though not exactly the same, it is a similar process to an animal's cells processing food as fuel.
