So what is Britain's most dangerous drug?

100% enough proof that the Internet is far better than any MPEG-DVR-play-on-demand platform out there. Although I realize that I pay my ISP for access, this series would be worth my paying for a premium channel.

Great find. Sifting through those clips already submitted isn't an easy task.

Very good program, very informative and free from scare tactics.

Interesting stuff. The one thing I was curious about they didn't elaborate on.

I wanted to know how marijuana caused the one death. As an ex-20 year cannabis smoker I would never say its harmless, but I have never heard of a single death attributed to it. Does anyone know anything about this?

Re: Horizon: Britain's Most Dangerous Drug
Guy probably laughed himself to a heart attack or something.

I thought it was a little more dumbed-down than it needed to be. I don't remember them even defining their terms: Does "dangerous" mean to the individual who uses it, or to society as a whole? Since tobacco kills so many thousands a year and yet is lower on the list than Ketamine, which kills one, I have to assume the "danger" they are quantifying is to the individual. Yet the documentary consistently addresses the issue of popular perception as propagated by the government and the media, which would indicate that they are looking at drugs as a societal phenomenon, not an individual one, and really, shouldn't the voting/taxpaying/television-watching public be more concerned with that latter definition of "dangerous"? I mean, if Ketamine is higher than Tobacco even though it kills only one person a year, "...because at high doses, it can result in heart failure, and even stop breathing", then shouldn't, say, gasoline, be even higher on the list, since I'm guessing it is even a better guarantor of death than Ketamine, for anyone that decides to consume it?

As I understood it, they really ment the danger for the individual consumer. It is in their opinion more likely to die by consuming ketamine than to consume tobacco, and it has more drastic side-effects.

The example with the gasoline isn't that good, because drug consumers normally doesn't want to kill themselves, they want the "rewarding" effect of the drug. I am not very sure, how rewarding it is to drink gasoline. So only a few people may be willing to consume gasoline, definately less than those willing to consume the drugs in this film.

Interesting enough for me is that they really put Cannabis higher than for example LSD or Extacy. Actually this fits very well to my own "observations" with some of my musician friends. ;)

Maybe you shouldn't be so quick to talk until you've put away a few pints of high octane unleaded. It's blows away vodka and Red Bull, let me tell you.

I noticed Psilocybin didnt make the list...

Re: Horizon: Britain's Most Dangerous Drug
Good eye.

With Psilocybin, a lethal dose is around 250 times the so-called recreational one, while studies suggest that the LSD ratio seems to be ? (infinity). There is no dosage of LSD that will make your body stop functioning.

Curious how in the hallucinogenic realm, the higher it gets you, the less toxic it is.

Consider Di-Methyl Tryptamine, also known as DMT, extract of the ayahuasca plant. It seems to be the single most powerful hallucinogen known, yet not a trace of it remains in the human body within an hour of having smoked it. This most intense of highs, which reportedly has astonished even the most jaded of psychonauts during their first dosage, lasts less than 10 minutes!

I have read anecdotal reports of DMT starting to make the rounds in Mexico City, at US$50ºº a pop.

In the first paragraph, that was supposed to be an "infinity" symbol, not a question mark. Just now noticing that advanced keyboard functions don't seem to display properly in M&C, hmmm...
