We Need God in Our Governments
These Christian fundamentalists in Lynchburg, Tennessee explain why they're supporting Mike Huckabee for president, their misguided ideas about Barack Obama and the Koran, the Iraq War, President Bush, and of course the ever-popular End Times.

I can't wait for the rapture, then we'll be rid of these idiots.

Their voices are all more or less the same.

When the girl says that Bush needs to follow the word of God, what does she mean by that? Should he start a crusade or something?

He's doing particularly well with Thou Shalt Not Kill. I know, I know, you've got to read between the lines ... God works in mysterious ways.

Re: We Need God in Our Governments
Thing is, I spent more than a year in such places as Broken Bow, Oklahoma, Crystal Hill, Virginia, Crystal Spring, Tennessee and a half dozen others (PM me if you want the full list). Most of these people really believe this crap. Harold Ford lost his bid for the US Senate because of a radio ad (yes, I heard it live) where he was being portrayed as a playboy that wants your white daughter to come to his next party.

Hey, it's despicable. But most of these states are lost to the extreme right or leaning red anyway. Don't focus on them but don't ignore them either. There are about ten states in play this election, some of them quite surprising: Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio, Montana and both Dakotas.

FYI i'm from northern VA and this crap is at a minimun. Granted NoVA is a small section of VA but we have the highest population density and make 80% of the states money.

Re: We Need God in Our Governments
Yes, I should have pointed out that your state is quite varied. Just like NY, where other than the big cities, it's really almost a red state.

I bet if you pulled Alexandria alone from the polls, Jim Webb would never have made his way to the Senate.

That's all right: Jaxon is running a little human trafficking business on the side. For a measly $1000, you'll become either a Canadian or a Mexican. This month's special is Cuba: $250. Safe, fast transport, breakfast, you name it.

The future 's so blight, Yanks gotta evades
He'll get lots of business if McCunt gets in.

For the last five years or so, there has been a notable spike in the number of Americans immigrating to Canada. 2006 saw the highest amount since the mid ‘70s: over 10,000 citizens.

Yet, these new border jumpers aren’t the draft dodging working class. They’re well-educated and can afford to re-establish themselves (many are buying property here in British Columbia).

When asked why they moved (or have the second home to escape to), most of them say it’s because of the crazy politics in the US. The general opinion is that the Bush administration’s poor leadership and social conservative policies have damaged the country (really?).

Ten thousand doesn’t seem like much to sneeze at. But, when it’s the well-educated set, there is reason to be concerned. America has always been a nation of a few smart people and an overwhelming supply of ignorant masses. The problem is that not all the smarties are concerned with what’s good for the nation; they’re just in for their own interests.

So if the ethical smarties are jumping ship, moron America is going to have nothing but unchallenged and unscrupulous assholes to manipulate them (ie Christian right). The voices of reason will no longer be heard (like they ever were) because they will be foreign - and Americans never listen to foreigners ;)

God Bless America

....and run for the 49th fucking parallel, my brothers. The morons are coming!

One of the best friends I have in the whole world lives in Vancouver and she keeps begging me to join her in a business venture (she's a Mac techie and I'm the PC guy with more letters after his name than in it). My take on leaving the US is that it would result in a higher concentration of redneck idjits who need supervision every time they punch a clock at the bullshit factory and therefore would result in a far more red US. Is that what I want to accomplish?

Come help make Canada cooler
Screw 'em. This is your life - so live it for yourself.

Nations rise and fall, anyway. Nothing you do will ever change this.

"FYI, I eat a lot. And I run a lot. And I crap a lot."

??? Why are you telling me this ???

btw, I live on Vancouver 'Island'. You'd have to start yer startup there if ya wanna bunk at the EViLs.

FYI, you'd be wise to consider tech opportunities in Vancouver. The city has so much potential for growth in that sector. Plus, it's one of the only cities in the world that lets you ski and suntan at the beach in the same day.

If it really is something you're interested in, I'd be happy to help where I could.

Re: We Need God in Our Governments
What's fascinating is these ladies see the hypocrisy of George Bush.

I have friends/relatives who are "corporate Christians" who aren't even that lucid. But these ladies see it and also want our troops out of Iraq.

Yet they've been divided from people like me via their, um, "faith" and the corporate media.

We'd be better off saying who cares what you believe. (And by the way, this is America. We were founded by folks who wanted a country which allows all American to practice their own faith.)

Let's put aside that stuff so we can come together to stand up against the pharisees like Bush and the Multinationals who are turning the world into a medieval feudal system.
