Re: Who Would Jesus Bomb?
These people should learn to ridicule wacko evangelical politicians over the internet. There is no jail time that way.

Have to admit that they did get my curious: Who would Jesus bomb?

If I were Jesus, I'd be raining fire on Anime conventions, WWF events, Peta rallies, Republican conventions, Democrat conventions, Hollywood, royal houses in Saudi Arabia, death metal concerts, most Hip Hop and Country music concerts, all the Blue Collar comedy tour gang, Harley Davidson shops that sell the loader mufflers, the residence of every person who has pissed me off with their incompetent driving...

Aww! I would hate for you to bomb my Norwegian Death Metal. Most of those guys are skinny dudes with long hair. Socially aquward pacifists. Death Metal is their outlet. I will not be voting for you to be the next Jesus soley for that one reason.

Re: Who Would Jesus Bomb?
You present a fair justification for sparing the Death Metal crowd. Yes, hardcore metal heads tend to be good people even though some of their music is absolutely painful to listen to.

Personally, I love most metal. Ozzy RulZ!

I now decree that ALL bangers, thrashers and hard rockers will be spared. However, the moment they talk shit about Bobby Darin or Leonard Cohen they will become true 'burn outs'.

Re: Who Would Jesus Bomb?
Holy cow, these seem like unprecedented times to my eyes.

These people are decidedly NOT the media caricature of tree-hugging hippies putting flowers in rifle barrels, between bouts of "free love" and LSD trips. These people have probably never heard of Code Pink. These are mild-mannered citizens who have had ENOUGH, whose outrage have driven them to heroic, symbolic confrontations like this one, against hostile authorities and an indifferent MSM. These are the faceless Cindy Sheehans.

And it's not just about the jug-eared goon squatting in the White House. It's about the whole contemporary political apparatus, soulless political careerists eager to maintain a corporate status quo, with no small help from the uneducated, overweight and undernourished (a large chunk of the population), snoozing on religiosity and the teevee.

The corrosiveness of these times is astonishing.

There is hope, though. Bush backers and so-called "conservatives" are getting their asses handed to them on platters, in elections all over the developed world (UK, Australia, Spain, etc). My biggest hope for 2008 is that the same happens in the United States Of America.

Well written and well said.

Bush conservatives have and will continue to take a hit, I think. The average American is not impressed with how their country has been run over the last seven years. How could they not be disappointed and/or fed up? Even if a voter shares the Bush admins conservative values, there has to come a point where the deceptions and failures become too much to stomach.

I wonder if the voter revulsion of '08 will steer voters in the wrong direction. Will they elect a worse president just because he/she isn't the incompetent Bush admin?

Yes, Bush and Co would be damn near impossible to top. But, it could happen.

What a mess politics is these days. Why does it have to be so dishonest and polarizing? It's not just the US, either. In Canada, we elected an asshole because the party we like were a bunch of thieves.

Anyway, it's all an exciting freak show. eh?
