The Theory of Evolution Made Easy
Explains the Theory of Evolution in simple terms. A must for anyone who is confused by what the Theory is, what it means, and why it's taught in classrooms. This video is part of the 'Made Easy' series that explains the history of our world, from the Big Bang to the human migration out of Africa.

Re: The Theory of Evolution Made Easy
I've always been of the opinion that the only people who don't believe in evolution are the people who don't understand it.

I would also like to say "Creationist" and "Theist" are not one and the same. Both atheists and creationists often make the assumption that belief in supernatural deities presupposes belief in creationism, and that's not so. Evolution is a very big tent, comfortable for theists and atheists alike because it fucking makes sense and there's proof.

You're right that there are many theists who accept evolution. However, I haven't been able to find a religion that actually works with real evolution. For christianity, you have to say things like "All modern animals existed in roughly the same form 6000 years ago, except they were all really, really small, and that's why they fit on the arc." It really doesn't work if you try to combine religion and evolution.

Re: The Theory of Evolution Made Easy
If God does exist, and wanted to communicate his role in creation to Semitic tribesmen five to six thousand years ago, he'd probably simplify his message to get his point across. He'd lose his audience pretty quickly if he tried telling them about these tiny building blocks that you can't see but which come together in long strands to form a blueprint for every feature of every living thing on Earth, etc. Instead, the point is clear: I made you. You owe me some respect. For me, the Old Testament is comprehensible as a mix of anthropology and a sort of Divine poetry. The original Noah story was of a Mesopotamian farmer who was told by his god(s) to put all of his wealth (his livestock) and family on a barge, just in time for the flooding of the Tigris or Euphrates. A game of telephone turned one man's animals to all animals on Earth, a river landing to the re-population of the Earth. The point is that God wants us to listen.

I dislike that it is always "christians" who claim that evolution doesn't exist. No it is crazy people. "Christians" are a big Fing group, and even the Romnan catholic church said 50 years ago that Evolution makes sense. IT is those crazy protestants in the states who are so stupid they don't use their mind.

Should the picture for this really be George Bush? I mean, he was an example, but he's hardly the main idea of the video.

Re: The Theory of Evolution Made Easy
i would like to say that no matter how much backpeddling is attempted to reconcile the two, the bible is clearly in disagreement with evolution
