Awesome Wiimote usage... just watch.
Using the infrared camera in the Wii remote and a head mounted sensor bar (two IR LEDs), you can accurately track the location of your head and render view dependent images on the screen. This effectively transforms your display into a portal to a virtual environment. The display properly reacts to head and body movement as if it were a real window creating a realistic illusion of depth and space. By Johnny Chung Lee, Carnegie Mellon University. Why isn't this kid working for Nentendo, yet? In fact, why doesn't he have a whole dedicated team of developers working under him?

Re: Wiimote head tracking
That moment when he first switched to the head tracking VR display where we were at the camera POV was just mind blowing. That was so absolutely cool.
Unfortunately the reason why this hasn't happened yet is that it takes a relatively large display to do this effectively, and Nintendo still wants to hit the 13 inch TV market.
Still, amazing. I expect this kid to go very far. If he hasn't got a job offer from Nintendo yet he'd better soon. You hear me Reggie!

Re: Wiimote head tracking
I cant see why the display size would make that much of a difference.
The way i see it is like BF2142 on the PC... if you have a kick ass PC you can turn all the graphics up to the max and it looks awesome, or you can play it on a PC like mine - with all the graphics on low/med (mostly low), its not as immersive in its rendering of a virtual world, but its still pretty damn good.
anyway, im babbling... all i will say is i think Nintendo would be mad not to be trying to find ways to implement this into games asap... the thought of a call of duty type game where you could actually lean around a corner, or over a wall to see whats there is a mouthwatering prospect.

Re: lean around corner or over wall
imagine it-- a video game where you actually do have to get up and move around. Envision a whole generations of gammers who are ACTUALLY IN GOOD SHAPE!?!?!?? :)

That was very cool. TY
I agree, this man deserves more opportunity to explore his creative engineering. The games that could apply this concept... man, oh man.
