Re: Mister Rogers Lifetime Achievement Award
Even a cold-hearted SOB like me was affected by watching this. And I didn't even like watching Rogers as a kid. Not mindless enough, IMHO. Nice find. RIP Fred Rogers.

I wonder what Fred would think of Robot Chicken ...

Re: Mister Rogers Lifetime Achievement Award
Even South Park -- who is notoriously known for making sure NOTHING is off-limits -- has stayed away from Mr. Rogers. Why? Because such a good, pure soul deserves to be remembered as such, and anyone who had the privilege of growing up with him knows it.

What a wonderful man he was. I loved him as a kid and consider him one of the people who made me who I am today. The world's a better place for having Fred Rogers in it.

I couldn't agree more. By the way, in case anyone is interested, there are a few books written by Mister Rogers that are basically collections of his quotes about his philosophy towards life and so forth. I bought one of them for my mom for Christmas one year and later read it myself and some of them bring a tear to your eye. You can do an amazon.com search for Mister Rogers and find them if you want.

Re: Mister Rogers Lifetime Achievement Award
What a great man he was. It's difficult to calculate his influence on several generations of children, but it must be vast.
Most people are not aware that he was very instrumental in creating public television, and argued passionately for it before a congressional hearing. It is likely there would be no PBS without Mr. Rogers, and possibly no concept of child-friendly entertainment. He was a tireless advocate and pioneer of both of these things.
You can see his testimony before the Senate in this YouTube video:
