Disappearing Car Door
Tired of car doors that extend beyond the body of the car when open? Why not store your door in the floor instead?

Re: Disappearing Car Door
1) There are some seriously hot chicks in this video. Do they come with the doors?
2) What happens if the motor for the door burns out, I bet it's a bitch to fix. Not to mention the fact that you won't be able to get into your car. Heck, what if the door slides in and the motor breaks, now your driving like a UPS truck!
I dunno, to many moving parts if you ask me.

Side impact crash rating of "0." They're pitching it all wrong, anyway. They shouldn't be exhibiting the system on a Mk III, but rather a dropped Escalade with chrome 22's.

With this jewel of engineering, you can show the piles of garbage and all the shit inside of your car to everyone.

Re: Disappearing Car Door
Ahh the early '90s.
In regards to safety, this feature is not necessary. When I was a driving school instructor, I'd teach my students basic common sense habits. Habits like WALK COUNTER CLOCKWISE to face oncoming traffic when approaching the car door. Before opening the door, BLIND SPOT CHECK and look into the SIDE MIRROR. These are things every driver is supposed to do...unless they are an incompetent dumbass.
Now, this folding door may seem snazzy and impressive to custom car show people but the design is far too complicated. It looks like a potential maintenance nightmare. Man, i thought power windows were problematic enough. Just think how much fun it will be when you door gets stuck or needs a new motor (it is a Ford remember)
Yes. Just give me a regular freakin' door, thank you.
