That is Miss Kellie Pickler, the stupidest person to every be on Amercian Idol. Nothing she said surprised me except knowing that France might be a country. I didn't think she was that smart.

Being smart and knowing a lot of trivia are not the same thing. I wouldn't have answered this question correctly, unless I'd studied 5th grade geography before going on this show.

It's one thing to not know the answer. I can understand someone not knowing the correct response or maybe getting the wrong country. Looking back on my education, an American contestant on an American game show probably didn't hear about Budapest too much when they were in school, as social studies classes tend to focus more on Western Europe. But it's another thing entirely to say something like, "OMG I thought Europe was a country," or "I don't think France is a country...is France a country?" Most people should have a basic understanding of what France is and what Europe is.

Knowing that France is a country and Europe is not a country is in no way trivial. Elvis' love for fried banana and peanut butter sandwiches and Micheal Jackson's fondness of little boys are trivial.

I'll tell you who's stupid—all of you holier-than-thou jerks who are putting her down for being "stupid". She's not stupid; she's just not educated. I admire her. Why? Because she's not a phony. She's not afraid to admit what she doesn't know. That's more honesty than you'll ever find in people who like to pretend how smart they are...which usually turns out to be people who put other people down. She's got the guts to actually do something with her life, while you just sit around and criticize her. Y'all might make yourselves feel better by calling her stupid, but you're really only showing what unkind, petty, pathetic losers you are.

What are you raving about? Know France is a country and Europe is a continent is considered basic modern world education, as apposed to the 3rd world where the earth is flat. I hate to bring you into reality but 90% of people are valued based on education. The other 10% are silver spoons and entertainers who the 90% usually rob.
It's also personally offensive to me that you would defend a lack of education in an adult. One of the few pillars of this country that keeps it better than the rest of the world is the massive number of educated professionals we produce.
