It was also the second single off of the album. The music video features numerous men dressed as Abraham Lincoln(1809-1865), the sixteenth president of the United States of America. He served between November of 1860 and April 15th, 1865 when he was assassinated by the actor John Wilkes Booth while attending the play Our American Cousin. Abraham Lincoln is most famous for his role as the president during the Civil War (1861-1865) in which eleven of the thirty-four states in the United States seceded. The primary cause of the secession was said to be slavery. The southern states-- the Confederate States-- wanted to secede because they feared that the northern states-- the Union-- was going to restrict or even abolish slavery, the primary industry. The Confederates made the argument that since they had made the decision to join, they should be able to make the decision to leave. The Union won the war and slavery in the Confederate states was abolished by the Emancipation Proclamation. The remaining slaves were freed by the thirteenth amendment of the Constitution. The United States then entered a fifteen year period in which the problems left behind after the war were brought to resolution. Despite Abraham Lincoln's marriage to Mary Todd Lincoln and his four children with her, there is debate about his sexuality. The debate had been around for years, but reentered the public eyes with the publication of The Intimate World of Abraham Lincoln by C. A. Tripp (1919-2003) in 2005. An afterward to the book by Michael Chesson firmly supports the arguement made by the author. "Any open-minded reader who has reached this point may well have a reasonable doubt about the nature of Lincoln’s sexuality. The “Tall Sucker” was a very strange man, one of the strangest in American history, and certainly the oddest to reach a position of national prominence, let alone the presidency. If Lincoln was a homosexual, or primarily so inclined, then suddenly our image of this mysterious man gains some clarity." There are those who think that this theory is merely a method of defamation of a political figure so revered by the Republican party as to have many of its members refer to it as "the party of Lincoln." It should be noted that at the time of Abraham Lincoln, the Republican party was quite progressive in opposition to its current status as the more conservative of the two main parties in the United States.
