I watched this on TV. Although it was obvious from the beginning that he wasn't going to break character, Tim still poked him like he was being serious.

I very much respect Russert as a news man, an anchor and bureau chief. But he'll never do comedy. Even as a straight man, his timing was awful.

FUCK Tim Russert. Hard and soft media has gotten so fucking deluded by fearing things that don't even exist, that they can't use deductive thinking to recognize a guy whose obviously making fun of them to their face.

Don't take it so seriously. Russert was trying to play George Burns to Colbert's Gracie Allen. IOW, straight-man.
