Not so sure these comments are that outrageous.
If only more members of Congress were willing to stand up in defense of children and other citizens, and speak out strongly against our illegal war....
I'd like to hear much MORE of this talk from members of Congress, and more importantly, from the American people. What is more offensive to you? Spending billions and trillions to kill and maim innocents abroad or denying the money that is required to protect and care for our own children? Either way, it sounds like someone's getting screwed, and we're paying for it all!

Agreed.
In addition, it's kinda shady to post this now without any nod to the time when this speech took place. Judging by the news ticker and the various comments by the speaker, this took place during the G.W. Bush presidency.
For someone not paying much attention to current events, they might assume this is recent.

Shady has a negative connotation. I prefer shrewd.

yep, I know. That's why I used the word 'shady'.

You're onto me. Indirectly drawing a parallel between past situations and the present is a crucial part of my diabolical scheme.
Re: Rep. Pete Stark (D-CA) Outrageous Remarks on House Floor
Outrageous to some, but not inappropriate, and even couragesous. I just left the title the way I found it. I'd change it if I heard a good suggestion.
Re: Rep. Pete Stark (D-CA) Outrageous Remarks on House Floor
Do not refer to the president in any personal way?
What?
Does she carry his child or something? After all, I do know he liked to clear brush half the time. Everyone knows that.
