Re: Hitchens on Religion and Antitheism
I listened to the MP3 of the entire debate and was again disappointed by the christian representative. I always hope to hear a rousing debate that will bring me back into the fold... but it's always the same:

1)Hitchens or Dawkins being brilliant 2a) the other dude totally misunderstanding the topic of the debate 2b) the other dude insisting that good christians do exist c) the other dude getting verbally crucified with no hope of ressurection.

Where are the CS Lewises? Or would he have gotten schooled too? Hitchens always states his case so clearly... so flawlessly that I have no doubt he is the living embodiment of satan. I can almost smell the brimstone whenever he unapologetically clears his throat.

Re: Hitchens on Religion and Antitheism
Haha, yeah.

I'm actually Catholic and do practice my faith.

But I personally think that the true message of all religions is for there to not only be peace among each other but peace within ourselves. I don't think you NEED to be Catholic, Christian, or believe in any God for that to occur. Catholicism just seems to suit me (being raised as one), but I will say that I might not suit everyone everywhere.

I don't think the tribal people of Africa are doomed to Hell for not believing in Jesus Christ. I believe that if they can find the kind of peace between each other and themselves, then they can be accepted into heaven.

So be who you are and believe what you want to believe, just don't step on other people to do it.

I respect that ideal. Actually if everyone followed that ideal I would not care if religion was true or not.

Re: Hitchens on Religion and Antitheism
Christopher suggests "good natrure" is more innate than it is inferred by religion. He also goes further to say that before religion, man wouldnt have made it as far as they have if it were not innate. Also, he addresses the affect of Christianity in Africa. Its a good debate, you people should download and watch the whole thing! It IS long though so I would understand if you lost interest in such things. =P

Re: Hitchens on Religion and Antitheism
I couldnt help but notice Olasky's misunderstanding of Crick's probability of DNA forming. Crick discovered DNA but it wasnt DNA that was the origins of life, it was RNA and the probability of Earth's genetic code forming was that probability and the code could have been anything else. [Much like the different codes of Windows, Mac and Linux]
