Close Call In Iraq
Someone buried this one too deep to be effective.

I wonder if it was laid before the causeway was put down. That seemed really deep.

No, they've gotten good at finding culverts that pass under roads to lay them. In some cases, they will actually dig up the road and patch it. But I can't see any signs of that in this one.

Holy shit! Did you see how much earth that heaved? That wasn't some roadside tickler; that was a massive amount of explosive. I'm really gald it was ineffective. That shit's scary, man.

Woooow. That seemed pretty damn deep. And pretty big too. Lucky day.

Sadly, the maker of that IED probably learned his lesson and the next moving target of the "36 country coalition" likely got hit.

That was huge. I think if something had been directly on top of that it still would been heaved quite a distance even if it wasnt blown apart.

Re: Close Call In Iraq
My thought's exactly. Pretty crappy film to be honest.
No offense to the soldiers and I'm glad no one got hurt, but that was a freaking cool explosion.

My friend commanded a convoy that got hit with an IED. He took shrapnel in his face and lost a couple guys.

Im glad there are video clips like this out there for people to see. A lot of people have no idea exactly how scary it is for soldiers who come back and say that theyve seen explosions like this or have been close to them. After seeing this I think its easier for people to relate and have even more respect for the soldiers who have to worry about these things every day.
