Re: US Hummer vs Iraq Traffic
hate to be a stickler, but aren't they called 'humvees'? the hummer being the big yellow penis extension driven around cities?

Re: US Hummer vs Iraq Traffic
I know...we would all rather have them stop and wait in traffic... (ever heard of IED's?)
This is standard practice for just about every military that is in a hostile region..you don't stop unless you have too. It simply is not safe.
Had this been active war like when we first invaded, they would not have bothered with 'bumping' them out of the way.

Re: US Hummer vs Iraq Traffic
Thank you, first i thought they were just douchebags, but i understand now and it does make sense. But i still think that this would be A reason why Iraqis hate us. Not all of them understand and they would think the same thing i did, that the Hummvee giving you a luvtap from behind is just a Douchebag

Re: US Hummer vs Iraq Traffic
I have to say that this method makes sense. Lights or any kind of warning system would be painting a target on the vehicle. I wonder if they have any kind of special padding on the bumper?

Re: US Hummer vs Iraq Traffic
This is awful. Way to make friends over there boys.
I'm not putting the troops down, but seriously. Act like adults or we'll never get out of this mess.

Re: US Hummer vs Iraq Traffic
do we know that they weren't in an emergency situation here? Presuming they aren't, ya that would be rude. But if they are, they may have been doing whats necessary to get some one medical attention or something of that nature.
By: hypersapien
Re: US Hummer vs Iraq Traffic
You and the Monk need to realise that if they were to simply stop then there WOULD be an emergency medical situation... their own.
Not to say that every single time one of our troop vehicles stops, then it'll get flared or bombed, but NOT stopping makes sure that it doesn't happen. Once of prevention/pound of cure sorta' thing.
And as you could hear, they had the horn constantly going, and there were plenty of drivers that got waaay the hell outta' the way, so it's not like they don't know that the HMV isn't gonna' just wait for them.
I really really wish we could all be peaceful representatives and ambassadors over there, but you can't blame our soldiers for taking the mmeasures they need to in order to insure their safety. Instead, blame your elected officials for not being stronger to take action on what needs to be done, like getting the hell outta' there.
At $2,000,000,000 per week that we're spending on this mess, think what we could do with our own medical, educational and renewable energy resources systems HERE.
Not disagreeing with you guys at all... bumping the cars is an a-holt thing to do, but they have to to stay alive and keep from being sitting ducks.
If this bothers you, then good. It bugs me too. It bugs me enough to write a letter stating that we shouldn't have to put our soldiers into this position in the first place. I hope it bugs enough people to start doing the same after seeing enough of these types of clips.
All the best,
barrelOmonkeys
p.s. - I'm a former U.S. Army soldier and officer who worked in combat positions... just like the guys in this clip probably are.

Re: US Hummer vs Iraq Traffic
I'm a little confused as why you thought my comment was opposite of your own view?
I was trying to say that the driving in this clip could have very well been justified. The clip doesn't show what happened before or after their driving, so its easy for people to just assume they are doing it for the sake of being jerks.
I'm not trying to draw out an entire metaphor of whether the war is wrong or right here- rather pointing out that its easy for people to make poor assumptions about clips like this when all the information isn't present.

Re: US Hummer vs Iraq Traffic
Ah, making friends in the region. You know, like giving billions to Musharref to spread nuclear technology and hide bin Laden. Like selling state of the art weaponry to the Saudis (you know, where 15 of the 19 hijackers on 9-11-2001 came from). And yet you ask me what's wrong with this administration's approach?

If you look closely to the right at 43 seconds you can see children running up with flowers to great us as liberators!
Oh wait...no you can't.

Damn, that sucks
1:05 into it, the car that they hit gets pretty messed up, the trunk will never work again without some work

What the hell is the thing that floats past above the median starting at about 1:28? It's bugging me.

Re: US Hummer vs Iraq Traffic
That's a score meter. It didn't show up earlier, because they weren't doing well enough. Maybe they'll get the high score next time, but not without practice. :(

Re: US Hummer vs Iraq Traffic
Crap, if you tried that in North America someone would eventually get mad and try to hurt you... Maybe even try to pop a cap in you ass. These people seem a lot more tolerant than the people I live around.

Re: US Hummer vs Iraq Traffic
That's because there's a 50 cal machine gun mounted on the top of that thing. It's a war zone...start shit, get killed.

Re: US Hummer vs Iraq Traffic
It doesn't pain a pretty picture, but it's necessary. Believe it or not that driver was relatively "nice" during the process. Some are instructed to be a bit more aggressive.
By: flampo
Re: US Hummer vs Iraq Traffic
Those instructors are probably just a few bad apples.
Like Sheisskopf says, start shit, get killed. Or more accurately, your commander in chief starts shit, you get killed.

Re: US Hummer vs Iraq Traffic
At first I thought ‘you American f**kers’
I also though ‘clearly this isn’t standard procedure’
Then after reading further comments I realised that maybe it is. Several things back this up
- They break before the ‘touch’, hence trying to minimise damage
- They are not cheering or seem too excited by what they are doing. They seem more interested in a guy picking his nose.
- They would rather go through on-coming traffic than stop
- Beeping their horn way in advance
- Clearing they have an intended destination
- At 1:30 they comment on a guy and kid running across the road (Probably in reference to if they were closer to the bus they would have hit him)
I found this interesting as for most peace keeping operations (I don’t know if this is policy in Iraq), the British army prefers to patrol on foot. This helps build the locals confidence in the troops. In Afghanistan, some air force officers are being asked to grow beards to help show respect and ease with local procedures.

Re: US Hummer vs Iraq Traffic
Start shit and get killed? Why would i listen to anyone named shithead anyway? What else can I say to stir the pudding.. George Bush is my Hero, Al Gore Sucks, The War in Iraq is right and we should stay, Rush Limbaugh Owns, Ann Coulter is cool, and uh, Liberals suck. Hope that spawns some comments.
By: faxis2k
Re: US Hummer vs Iraq Traffic

Re: US Hummer vs Iraq Traffic
I heard if you took the Bible, and cut out all the parts that concern divinity and Jesus as God's son...you'd have the perfect place to hide Rush Limbaugh's drugs.

Re: US Hummer vs Iraq Traffic
What really gets me is that war even exists in the first place. Not just this "war," but war in general. And yes, war is in quotes because I don't consider this rataliation occupation a war.
It's like the weird kid in science class that if anybody touches, he goes berzerk and adds you to his little black book-filed under "c*cksucker." All you did was poke the kid and now he'll be picking you apart until there isn't any part of you left. What a jerk. But what do I matter, I don't even vote. Screw supporting, or even bothering to become involved in, an infinately flawed corporation/government with powers beyond control. Ugh.

During the moment of silence in one of my classes, I was studying for my next class. People die everyday. It happens. People get hit by cars. Dumb kids blowoff their limbs. Smart kids jump out of cars on the freeway.
btw, I saw plenty of VWs in this clip. Go Iraq!
