Ya cute. Cats digestive tract can only process meaty flesh. A vegan cat is a sick cat. the neat thing about the feline is, they dont really even need to drink water in the natural world because they sufficently hydrate from the animals they kill and eat! Reality is awesome!

My cat is also crazy for cantaloupe. I think there must be some component of the scent of melon that is like meat.

I think the part of the melon we eat is technically called "meat" but I could be wrong. I may have picked that up from some random emeril show. =)

If this is a recently weaned kitten, it may still have a taste for the sugars found in milk. Also, being allowed to sit there and munch on something with some resistance but juicy does kinda mimic a meaty snack. All in all, it's not a horrible thing for the little guy to be eating. It's basically sugar water and fiber. Only problem I see is that too much could give him diarhhea. On the whole, it's fructose rather than a processed sugar, and there are no dyes or fake flavors like a lot of the store bought treats people get. There are worse choices.
BTW - Meat, ya had it right. The part of a melon we eat is called the "meat" or "flesh" of the fruit.
