I've been kind of waiting for more than a decade to tell this little story. Digging deep into the memories, but his brother Livingston Taylor opened at Madison Square Garden for Jethro Tull back in 76 or so. Anyway, far too mellow a sound for the hard rocking crowd. Nearly booed him off the stage. Until he dropped his guitar. Everyone cheered. Then he picked up another one. He really was booed off stage. I had read in the newspaper that the audience didn't even let him finish his first song the following night.
That said, the whole Taylor family is very musical and typically enjoyable to listen to.
