Re: The Houdini Hamster
Gotta get a cage that's better designed, right?

As a kid, I had a couple of canaries who managed to get loose while I cleaned their cages. One was difficult but I somehow managed to get hold of him. The other shot right out the window. I bet he made it a whole block or two before he realized that it was much nicer to be fed and cared for in captivity.

Re: The Houdini Hamster
I swapped my bird cage for my daughters rat cage as the bars are much closer together. I can now put her outside on warm days with no fear of her escaping. I've already lost two birds.. one through my own stupidity. The other at the wee sticky hands of a 2yr old.

Being caretakers for pets is always a challenge and it requires creative solutions at times. Don't sweat those that get away.

BTW, when I lived in Florida, there were many wild parrots in my neighborhood that were begotten by escapees. I'm sure some make it at least a day or two in climes that you & I live in currently.
