Bear Grylls faked dangerous terrain in Kilauea Volcano also, taping most of the show a few hundred feet from the highway.

if those dangrous places and stunts arnt real then how do you explain all those nasty bugs and raw meat he eats without getting an upset stomach? lots and lots of pepto bismol i bet?

Can't really speak for nasty bugs, but I can say something about raw meat... It's an acquired taste. Doesn't mean you're a survivalist if you eat raw meat. Just means you like raw meat, as I do. 8)

Ya, I didn't much like it from the start. He gets his own camera crew! Survivorman had to haul it himself and set up shots and go back for the equipment. The best part of Man vs Wild is the old tv ads: "His name's Bear, and he's got a black belt." It peaked before it premiered for me.

I took one look at this guy, and without ever watching his show i thought "i really really hate you"
He sounds WAY too happy to be roaming around there
If you know your Family Guy, then this makes me remember when Stewie and Brian were in the desert and they cut open a camal to sleep in for there night, then Brian turns round and says "hey look a Comfort Inn". This is what that guy has done.

open this video in two windows and study closely the rocks that bear and the douche are walking on...They are quite different.

mmmmmm..... sadly you are mistaken. it is very obvious that it is the same location, albeit a slightly different angle from the camera

I'm a fan of all of these survivor shows in this recent wave of who's-more-badass. Far too much emphasis has been placed on who is more badass, however. I won't defend Bear's balls here but I must say that the information that he doles out is highly valuable/interesting enough. After all, if Survivorman Les Stroud was in trouble, he too would have a life flight immediately.

Bear was SAS before he ever got close to doing tv. Broke his leg/knee .. i forget which .. maybe both .. in a drop and has been teaching survival ect. since. Diggin around for his actual career before TLC or whoever tossed boatloads of cash his direction is actually pretty telling. My money would be on this guy to not only survive the wreck ... survive the woods.. and keep everyone safe.. but also bite the bullet and kill the weakest link for food when it came down to it.
Besides.. he eats nasty bugs. I complain if my Raimen is messed up. (too much/too little water)

Next you will tell me that other things on TV aren't real. If you have seen this episode, then you know it was never that "middle of nowhere". It is on frickin' Hawaii! His purpose was to emphasize the dangers of the lava field. If you have even been to Hawaii, you would know it is pretty dang tough to be that far away from civilization. Of course Bear does some neat editing work to make the show more interesting. I love Survivorman and Man Vs Wild, but Bear could kill Les Stroud with a leaf. Bear's stunts, even with a camera crew, are much more difficult than Les Stroud's. Both guys deserve credit.

The point is that these guys are supposed to be in survival situations on the show. When we watch we want to see people doing this. Les Stroud does this but here in this clip Bear is playing it off like he's in a dangerous area, even taking a careful stance when he crosses like the thing is about to collapse. Then the guy in the second clip walks across it like the bridge in his back yard, without a second thought. That just makes you wonder how many other things Bear does like this. Does he do those "dangerous" climbs after 2 or 3 practice runs with his camera crew? Does he sip some Perrier when the cameras turn off? Probably, and that just takes away the fun of watching a show like that.
