For a bunch of hippies, that sure isn't eco friendly. The whole premace of burning man is to take what you bring, no selling of goods, and to meet your neighbors. To burn this much propane for nothing is no waht burning man is about and I am suprised it was allowed by the organizers and the rangers/police.

Here's an article on figuring out how much of an impact Burners have in terms of CO2 emissions. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2006/08/26/BAGV7KPVGE1.DTL

And I agree whole-heartedly about the hypocrisy. It's cool looking, but even Hank Hill would hate seeing that much propane go to waste.

Burningman is all about radical self-expression. Not all burners are hippies. Some are just pyromaniacs that love having the freedom to create gasoline mushroom clouds.
