Re: Simpsons Movie, Complete
Don't forget the screwed up aspect ratio.
Is Matt Groening the type of director who is okay with people downloading his work? I know Michael Moore recently said he was fine with people downloading Sicko. Say what you will about his politics, but that really shows his passion for spreading his message. As for The Simpsons, I really don't see quite as much a reason to distribute a movie about a pig in clothes.
Maybe it's being hosted in a country like Switzerland, where the copyright laws are more vague and difficult.

Re: Simpsons Movie, Complete
This is how it is (or used to be) picture houses have to pay the film disitributors or film companies (I forget which) for the rental of the film. The only way cinemas can make money is by charging over the top amounts for sweets, drinks etc.
Re: Simpsons Movie, Complete
You got it. The theaters pay rental charges to distributors for the movies and then have to send back large percentages of the ticket sales to the distributors. The longer the movie is in the theater, the lower that percentage goes and the more money a theater can make (60% per ticket sale as opposed to 10%). So something like Titanic brought in an amazing amount of money for theaters.
Besides the high priced drinks and food they receive extra revenue from all the ads that run before the previews start.
Now with many theaters heading to DLP systems they may lose even more money. The theaters have to foot the bill for a digital projector (usually around $100,000 per projector) and still pay the same rate for movie rental, even though the studios save a ton on shipping and print fees.

So, do you also complain when you buy your beer from the bar and it is more expensive then when you buy it in a six-pack from the supermarket??
and the more we download illegally the more the price will go up to make up for lost profits. I am sure the movie stars don't mind so much, they got there money, but all the people working at the theatre who won't get their minimum wage anymore because no one goes to the 'overpriced' theatres sure will mind.

I still want to see it on the big screen, because this is a low quality cam video. This just got me more excited, because now I know that the content is funny. I can't speak for everyone, though.
