A Science Channel documentary, RT 43:46. A supermassive black hole is a black hole with a mass in the range of hundreds of thousands to tens of billions of solar masses. It is currently thought that most, if not all galaxies, including the Milky Way, contain a supermassive black hole at their galactic center.

Re: Supermassive Black Holes
Hmm...
While the subject matter is fascinating, and every single show that increases awareness of science is a good thing, as a hardcore astronomy fan, I've got three bones to pick with this particular show:
1. They keep the exposition simplistic, with few bits of new info spread far between.
2. They keep the music bombastic, as if they were making Raiders Of The Lost Ark.
3. They go for the doomsday-scenario shocking conclusion.
This annoying style can mean one thing and one thing only: this program is originally from the Discovery Channel. If given a choice, always choose PBS's Nova instead.
