New scientific frontier of emergence asks the fundamental question of the origin of order. Is the formation of complexity as much a law as entropy?
"Nova ScienceNOW" segment talks to scientists looking at phenomena as different as crown behavior, flocks of birds and the origin of life as connected.

Re: Nova: Emergence, Spontaneous Complexity
I remember there was some hoopla in the early nineties about Chaos Theory, strange attractors, etc. Yet after hearing a few faint echoes of it in some mainstream media (like Jurassic Park), the idea just sort of drifted away from public perception.
It's great to be made aware than Chaos Theory is still going strong. In fact, it's Chaos Theory 2.0, bigger, badder and better than ever. All in all, this is a great clip!

Re: Nova: Emergence, Spontaneous Complexity
Chaos theory and emergence also are at work in our weather patterns, but let's not worry about that...
There's a consensus, right?
