Dschingis Khan: Moskau, Engrish Version
The German supergroup Dschingis Khan performs their one-hit wonder Moskau live.

The catchy melody and extravagant costumes make this video a classic tome for human culture.

Subtitles are also included, if you wanna even try to make sense of this tsunami of oddness.

Re: Dschingis Khan: Moskau (live subtitled)
As a german I can say that they indeed sing in german, but they don't make fun of moscow. Unfortuntely for my whole country they were pretty serious about it. They even sang this song at the Grand Prix d'Eurovision de la Chanson aka Eurovision Song Contest. Oh, the shame!

Also, at least in germany this wasn't their only hit song. Their career included such huge songs as Dschinghis Khan, Rom (rome), Hadschi Halef Omar and Machu Picchu. They were produced of a man called Ralph Siegel, who today is still one of the most successful producers in germany.

Oh, and as I see it, the subtitles are ment to be a "misunderstood" english text. If you watch closely, sometimes teh english words sound a bit alike the original text.

Re: Dschingis Khan: Moskau (live subtitled)
Why are you ashamed that they sang this at Eurovision? Rediculous pop songs like this are pretty much par for the course there.

Re: Dschingis Khan: Moskau (live subtitled)
Okay, so here's the translated version. It doesn't rhyme in english, but hey, at least you'll understand the highly poetic lyrics. And don't ask me what "Towarisch" means, I'm german, not russian ;). Have fun:

Moscow,

strange and mysterious,

towers out of red gold,

cold as ice.

Moscow,

but those who really know you

know that a fire burns

so hot inside of you.

Cossacks, hey, hey, hey, rise the glasses

Natasha, ha, ha, ha, you are beautiful

Towarisch, hey, hey, hey for the life

Here's to you, brother, hey, brother ho

Moscow, Moscow,

throw the glasses against the wall

Russia is a beautiful country,

ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, hey!

Moscow, Moscow,

your soul is so big,

at night all hell is let loose,

ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, hey!

Moscow, Moscow,

love tastes like caviar,

girls are for kissing,

ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, hey!

Moscow, Moscow,

come on, let's dance on the table

until the table breaks down.

ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!

Moskow,

lalala...

Moskow, Moskow,

vodka you have to drink pure and cold,

then you'll get 100 years old,

ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, hey!

Moskow, Moskow,

father, your glass is empty,

but in the basement there is more.

Moskow...

Cossacks, hey, hey, hey, rise the glasses

Natasha, ha, ha, ha, you are beautiful

Towarisch, hey, hey, hey for the life

Here's to you, brother, hey, brother ho

Moscow, Moscow,

throw the glasses against the wall

Russia is a beautiful country,

ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, hey!

Moscow, Moscow,

your soul is so big,

at night all hell is let loose,

ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, hey!

Moscow, Moscow,

love tastes like caviar,

girls are for kissing,

ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, hey!

Moscow, Moscow,

come on, let's dance on the table

until the table breaks down.

ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, hey!

Re: Dschingis Khan: Moskau (live subtitled)
tvarishnik is russian for comrade, English for 'friend' 'brother' 'fellow soldier' stuff like that. pretty loose. think 'Hey Homes!' and you'll have the gist of it.
