Simpsons Movie a Boost for Kenyan Village
The Simpsons, and the opening of the new movie in particular, have given a welcome economic boost to one Kenyan village.

Kinda sad how someones selling a statue for 46 bucks and the highly skilled people that make them get 3 dollars a day.

the guy said a statue would make them 120 Ksh, that's about 1.3 Euros, or 1.5 Dollars.

and the average income of a Kenyan citizen is about $500 a year. though they seem to know their prices when it comes to tourist.

Its true that the carvers should get more than $3 a day but it needs to be taken into account that $3 is a lot more there. It also needs to be noted that if they were paid an American equivilant wage it would screw up the economy.

The most remarkable part of this story is that that guy had the initiative and intelligence to buy the rights from Fox to make these dolls, even though he had never heard of the Simpsons previously.
