This is weird and makes me uncomfortable just a little bit. Oprah. Hmm. They were treating John like he is really an authority on politics... and not that he isn't but he's never overtly said or acted in a way that acknowledges so. So strange. I am just beside myself.

This is just a fluff piece. Maybe even a bit of cross promotion. As always, Jon is mixing humor and truth. It's not to be taken literally.

Well, i'd assume that good political satirists would have to have a good understanding of politics. On top of this i also think that media in general likes to create spokespersons, based on charisma as well as knowledge.
And yea, this is just a light hearted Q&A... "trying to make politics interesting... more inclusive".

We all know he's a comedian and not a politician but we assume since his comedy is political he knows what he's talking about. I think it's because we are dying to find someone in politics we feel we can talk to and trust.
