what a friggin awesome flight....... i knew the rex 600 was good but ffs i didnt think it could take that sort of punishment!

Re: RC Helicopter Skills
Having an awfully hard time thinking that this is legit. A helicopter can not maitain altitude, let alone gain altitude, while its rotors are vertical.

Re: RC Helicopter Skills
No doubt legit. Fast forwarded palyback X2, and added sound effects though. No to mention that the motor is stock, it looks as if it is the battery that is an after market upgrade.

Re: RC Helicopter Skills
It's hard to appreciate how hard this is to actually do. I've been flying rc helos for a couple months, and this type of flying (3d) takes a lot of time, effort and money to master. His toy is probably $2000 including the radio.

Re: RC Helicopter Skills
I don't buy that this was fast-forwarded and sound effects added. The echo of sound is too believable to be fake. Besides, why bother? Also, I am pretty sure RC helo's aren't bound by the same rules as full size helo's. I think I have heard that most full size helo's don't do loops due to power limitations and stress limitations. Am I wrong?

Re: RC Helicopter Skills
I'm most impressed by the speed with which the direction the motor is spinning can change. I was instantly reminded of a dragonfly. Incredible stuff. Can you imagine strapping a radio controlled bomb to that thing? Scary.
Re: RC Helicopter Skills
"Helicopters fly by sucking air from above and forcing it downwards with a thrust equal to (for hovering) or exceeding (for climbing) the weight of the helicopter." - http://scienceworld.wolfram.com/
How does this account for the reverse thrust demonstrated in this vid? The very first manoeuvre shows the helo accelerating upwards, then immediately (accelerating) downwards. Now I’m no physicist, but this seems to violate the definition stated above.
A fake methinks.

Re: RC Helicopter Skills
The rotors pitch up and down to change the direction of the 'sucking.' I can understand that people don't know that...I guess...
The Motor does not change its direction. It rotates the same way the entire time.

Re: RC Helicopter Skills
I have experience with RC aircrafts and LAW(Land Air Water) vehicles . And i can surely say that those manouvres are possible . 'Real' helicopters can't do that , okay . But RC's are lighter , more agile and don't have the restraints of a manned vehicle . Modern technology make it possible for such quick reactions and precision steering .

Re: RC Helicopter Skills
Having never seen or used one of these RC helos, I suppose that due to its lighter weight it could be impact lift rather than lift created by low pressure that might account for the sharp direction changes. If the rotor blades were quickly being pitched upwards and downwards they would create equal and opposing forces along the vertical axis depending on the blades angle of attack.
Quite a mesmerizing display nonetheless.

Re: RC Helicopter Skills
I saw this video posted on a different website a while ago. I dont think its a helicopter in the literal sense, because the direction of the propeller can change, which in turns changes the way the helicopter moves. I dont think its fake.
