Several analyses of the explosion dynamics showed that the combined detonations were roughly equivalent to a 1 kiloton nuclear device.

Except it wasn't nuclear at all.
'Kiloton' stands for an equivalent in mass of exploding TNT and has, by definition, nothing to do with nukes.

why did the history channel make this story so dramatic? Im sure nasa was genuinely upset about this mishap. way to pour salt on the wound history channel.

Were you listening at all? NASA didn't run the plant. And I'm not sure why you think that this was "pouring salt on the wound" in any way, it seems like a pretty crazy event that deserves the tone they give it, and I think the facts back up that the chemicals were badly stored.

It really went from bad to worse didn't it ?! I think they mentioned gas storage tanks that blew first then the AP AND then a gas pipe line. Pretty shitty

It troubles me to see how heavily edited these reports are. I see clouds passing over a satellite image, sound edited so it would sync with the explosion (although the camera was standing miles away),...
Makes you wonder how much of the "facts" are actually true and how much has been boosted to increase the spectacle factor.
