This makes me smile every time i watch it! It's interesting hearing the random Japanese conversations going on. I think in the US if someone saw a camera randomly filming them they'd probably freak out. A Japanese person would usually but they would be polite about it.

I love this! Its a great example of how a simple idea can be executed well and trump some gimmick or special effect clip.
I was just waiting for the mood of that to change when the camera slides past some man sobbing quietly to himself... or a hulking yakuaza agent pulling a pistol from his side as he sees he's being filmed.... or a chef in the kitchen sneezing on food. =)

its common on the west coast of the US. They even have them in the suburbs these days. crazy kids.

Unfortunately its usually lower grade sushi when it comes on a conveyor belt. At least thats my experience in Portland, OR.

Yea very common. Lots of the cheaper sushi places have sushi that constantly goes around on a belt. Its pretty interesting.
They put a few pieces on a plate and you pick which ones you want. Sometimes much doesn't come on the plate, thats why you see plates stacked up like 8 high.

Conveyor belt sushi is extremely common in Japan. They usually put up two pieces of sushi. Sometimes they put up seasonal fruit and what not. The plates are all colored with each color representing a different price.
There is nothing about quality here. Some of the best sushi in Japan comes from the conveyor belt sushi places. And you don't have to only choose from the belt, you can order directly from the chef. One of my favorite things about Japan.
And this little film is really interesting. So simple yet so complete. Excellent.

Simple yet beautiful. I love it. The camera move gives it a standard movie scrolling effect and yet only capturing faces and smiles of random peoples.. even the cooks at work are just great :) I would have liked to see the camera doing a complete turn and ends with a pair of hands picking the cam up the same way it's been placed on the conveyor belt. And yes, a nice little movie clip too with an appropriate music :)
