Insane Track Bike Riding in SF
Fixed gear street biking (no brakes!) in San Francisco is ridiculously hard core.

Re: Insane Track Bike Riding in SF
One gear, two wheels, no brakes, one asshole.
It takes some serious skill to ride a fixed-gear bike like that, but these guys ride like jerks. I noticed that a pedestrian in a crosswalk had to run to get out of their way in one of the downhills where they blew through a stop sign.

Re: Insane Track Bike Riding in SF
i dont run into a lot of asshole fixie riders in Seattle, most of the messengers are pretty cautious and courtious.
it's the spandex clad commute warriors that are always passing and muscling for rank that always make me feel unsafe biking here.

Notice how the close up of that one guy's face revealed a lack of front teeth. Tells ya a little something about what it takes to ride like that....

HAHAHAHAHH! 'insane'....wat a load of crap. Those are single speed bikes, pedal backwards and you got your self make-shift breaks. ANd the reason they could skidd around like that is because the bikes are about 30 oz. (SUPER LIGHT!), and the wheels are thinner than an inch. What I'm getting at is that this is nothing; search for urban biking, or urban trials, then you'll see some insane things. As for this though...pure GARBAGE!
and he's missing teeth...should've worn a WATERMELON ON HIS HEAD...

"Ridiculously Hard Core"--------->" Ridiculously stupid" but nice background music.

Re: Insane Track Bike Riding in SF
big difference btwn single-speed and fixed-gear. pedals aren't "make-shift" brakes, and bikes obviously weigh more than 2 lbs (32 oz). I agree, "insane" isn't the right word to describe the skill and art displayed here. but it's hard to grasp how you can write it off as garbage, even with assumption you've never tried pedaling a fixie even 10 seconds.
