17:02 version of their signature song, the title track from their 1968 second album.
A gargantuan piece of primordial riff-rock, it took up the entire first side of the LP, but still became a huge success, epic-length drum solo and all.
With their heavy guitars, spooky organ, and air of mystery, they were the missing link between the Doors and Led Zeppelin, effectively building a bridge between '60s psychedelia and '70s hard rock.

I wonder how many people know this song but don't know it by name. The lyrics are as lame as can be but the drum solo and the chords are classic.
Anyway, anyone who listens to this whole clip will surely have an ear worm for a day or two.

Yeah lady... Heh.
I found a couple of others, one on American Bandstand (only 3:58 but the video was cruddy) and the other was actually in color and the video was good but the audio sucked. So now you know why I presented this one.
And hey, since this is a classic (vintage?) song, don't you think that M&C really deserves to have it as a link? ;-)
